11:55 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, Japan time: Tropical Storm Jangmi keeps hurtling pell mell along the south coast of Japan’s main island of Honshu, keeping Yokosuka Naval Base and the Kanto Plain coast on its itinerary for passage just south at mid-afternoon Wednesday.
At 9 a.m., Jangmi was about 130 miles west-southwest of Yokosuka, speeding east-northeast at 30 mph, holding steady at 60-mph sustained winds and 70-mph gusts at center. Fleet Activities Yokosuka remained in Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness 1 through Wednesday morning.. All other U.S. bases in Japan have resumed seasonal TCCOR status.
If Jangmi stays on its current heading, Joint Typhoon Warning Center projects it to keep moving at a rapid clip, passing just 12 miles south-southeast of Yokosuka at about 2 p.m. Wednesday.
