The excitement surrounding Michael reached Japan today as the film’s official Japanese premiere took place in Tokyo ahead of its nationwide release on June 12.

Leading the celebrations on the red carpet were Jaafar Jackson, who portrays Michael Jackson in the highly anticipated biopic, alongside cast members Juliano Valdi and Producer Graham King. The trio greeted fans and media as anticipation continues to build for the film’s release across Japan next week.

Also attending the premiere were Michael Jackson’s son, Prince Jackson, and representatives of the Estate of Michael Jackson, John Branca and Karen Langford, who joined the cast in supporting the project.

Adding a special touch to the event were two familiar faces from Michael’s professional circle. Choreographer Travis Payne, who worked closely with Michael on numerous projects, including This Is It, was present on the red carpet. Joining him was Yuko Sumida, who also collaborated with Michael during his career and remains a respected figure within the fan community.

As is customary for major film premieres in Japan, a number of Japanese celebrities and entertainment personalities also walked the red carpet, helping to generate additional attention for the release. Influencers and content creators were also invited to the event, with a dedicated media and creator area set up to allow them to capture exclusive content and share their experience with audiences across social media platforms.

Fans gathered outside the venue to welcome the guests and celebrate the upcoming release of the film, which continues its international promotional tour.

Michael opens in Japanese cinemas on June 12.
