The museum has organized a 13-day trip to Japan in 2027. The dates are June 17-29. Attendees will be able to see several iconic destinations in the country, with stops in Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka and Hiroshima.

Some of the trip’s highlights include visiting Tokyo’s Senso-ji Temple and the Imperial Palace gardens, the Inuyama Castle, Kyoto’s Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion), the Bamboo Forest, the Sanjusangen-do and Kurama-dera temples, the torii gates at Fushimi Inari Taisha, Nara Park, the Itsukushima Shrine and the Osaka Castle.
“This trip reflects the Putnam Museum’s commitment to learning through exploration,” Vice President of Museum Experiences Kelly Lao said in a statement. “We’re excited to offer a unique opportunity for our community to experience Japan’s culture, history, and traditions in a meaningful and memorable way.”
Along with visiting several of Japan’s famous spots, guests will also experience several cultural traditions on the trip. That includes watching a Geisha performance, taking part in a traditional tea ceremony, experiencing a sumo-themed dinner, sake tastings, hands-on calligraphy lessons and exploring local markets.
The cost is $8,985 per person if two people are going. A single person can go for an additional $3,565. A $1,000 deposit is required to secure a spot. Airfare and travel insurance are not included.
An informational session on the trip will be held on Tuesday, June 30, at 5:30 p.m. It will be held at the Putnam Museum, located at 1717 W. 12th St. in Davenport.
