After just a year of operation, Tatchan Noodle has made the decision to close its brick-and-mortar location.
“Our cafe location at 383 Raymur Ave, Vancouver will be closing as our current lease comes to an end,” shared the restaurant.
“Since opening last year, we have been incredibly fortunate to receive so much support from our community. We are truly grateful to every customer, friend, family member, and supporter who has visited us, shared a meal with us, and helped us grow.”
Tatchan first got its claim to fame when it started offering its Japanese Yatai cart experience to Vancouverites in February 2023. Here, folks could sit in a handful of cartside seats where they can hunker down and enjoy their eats.
And before you get too worried, yes, the food cart will continue to operate. Additionally, the team has shared that it is actively looking for a new location.
“To make the most of our final month at the cafe, we plan to open seven days a week throughout June so that as many people as possible can enjoy our Okinawa Soba one more time,” added the noodle shop.
For those unfamiliar, Okinawa Soba is a traditional Japanese noodle soup that originates from the Okinawa Prefecture. While the name soba is traditionally associated with buckwheat noodles, buckwheat is rarely used in Okinawa, and the noodles used for this dish are primarily made with white flour.
“The taste and ingredients also differ depending on the region and island,” writes Tatchan on its menu. “Most commonly, pork belly cooked in soy sauce is most often utilized in Okinawa soba, and the dish is usually topped with fish cakes (not Tatchan Noodle), green onion, and pickled ginger.”
Tatchan’s final day of operation at this location is Friday, June 26.
Many took to the comments, declaring their love for the noodle shop and sharing how much they’d miss the location.
“Sorry to hear you have to move. Tatchan is the BEST,” said one person.
“I’m so sad to hear this news 😭😭😭😭 I really hope you find a good location again soon and hopefully with a little bit more of long term lease,” added another.
“Wherever you move, we follow!” shared a third.
