Beautiful tea house in Hakodate, Japan

I started getting really pumped for this tea house the moment we got off the bus in this INSANELY gorgeous area of Hakodate. The views were majestic, the teas and food were delicious, and the vibes were immaculate.

Not shown in the video though is the beautiful neighborhood around it. Right after our teas, we took a nice long stroll and wondered what it must be like to actually live in a place that felt as “magical” as this.

We also got a feeling that we really, really love while traveling: like we had wandered into a place completely, entirely, utterly, outlandishly removed from anything familiar to us, one we never ever ever would have seen without some perfect combination of aimlessness and happenstance. Some of the best moments in travel are when you feel like a fish, out of water, nonetheless breathing in the air, and loving it.

  1. Fun fact! (or is it fun?)… A sign on the outside said this building used to be a quarantine facility. But now it’s a cute and calming little tea house😂
