Naomi Osaka has been serving more than tennis balls on tennis court for years. The four-time grand slam champion is also a fashion-forward athlete, merging her athleticism and her appreciation for style as a form of expression in every match she plays.

Now that the 2026 French Open, where Osaka showcased her latest look, is underway, WWD breaks down some of the customized Nike kits the tennis player has worn through the years.

Osaka debuted her latest customized Nike kit on Tuesday at the 2026 French Open. Using an existing Nike template, Swiss couturier Kevin Germanier crafted a long black flowing skirt and a corseted top, which, when removed, revealed a shimmering gold Nike kit with a pleated skirt.

“I wanted to celebrate her strength, individuality and athleticism, while ensuring that her first step onto the court felt just as powerful and unforgettable as her game,” Germanier said of the design in a statement to WWD.

Osaka kicked off the 2026 tennis season at the Australian Open in January. She walked on court wearing a custom Nike kit that included modifications and design from couturier Robert Wun. The wholistic piece, which included flowing, pleated white pants and a jacket with tentacle-like embellishments, gave off a distinct jellyfish aesthetic homage. Osaka also wore a hat with a butterfly appliqué, a reference to her 2021 Australian Open moment when she tried to move a butterfly off the court.

At the 2025 U.S. Open, Osaka wore two Nike kits in distinct colorways. The athlete’s first look was a red tennis dress with a bubble hemline and sequined top. Her entrance look also included a long-sleeve jacket in the same shade of rosy red. Crystalized roses were added to Osaka’s hair for added symbolism.
