We spent 2 weeks travelling around Japan. It was my second time in the country and Jaime’s first, so we came up with an itinerary that hit some of the classic spots as well as checking out some places away from the big cities.
In this first half of our trip we:
– spend a day exploring Tokyo
– stayed at a gorgeous ryokan at Takayama
– visited the old village of Shirakawa-go
– hiked a section of the Nakasendo trail
– saw the sites in Kyoto

Amazing as always Karl! I’m heading to Japan for the first time in November and your first Japan series is what started my obsession and fascination with the place 🇯🇵
Yeah, one day I will try pork vagina😁
Yeah 😁😛🙌🏼 so ready to watch this 🙏🙏 big love and thank you ❤
14:38 this instantly reminded me of a scene from an anime "DEMON SLAYER"(1st episode) where Tanjiro stayed for the night after selling coals
Wonderful! I’ve been waiting and it’s so worth the wait. Beautiful scenery, great looking food and interesting locations. Really looking forward to part 2!❤
Excited to revisit the places I've seen through both of your eyes and see new stuff! Koyasan was otherworldly.
Went on the Nakasendo two years ago with the wife and kids. Walked from Nagiso to Magome in two (half) days. Good thing cause my girlfriend already had a craptone of blisters on both her feet from all the walking during the first weeks of our trip. Slept at Koshinzuka's just outside Tsumago-juku, amazing little house and the hosts are absolutely lovely. Must say these two days were certainly a highlight, such a beautiful region. Othe than that, the golden route is still a safe bet but really a no-brainer. Incredible things to do and see, wonderful people to meet, amazing food. This year, we're gonna tackle Takayama and Shirakawa-go and around, before spending two weeks in the Tohoku region for more hiking and summer festivals. Shikoku and Kyushu will have to wait for now.
So beautiful, dang it, Japan wasn’t on my bucket list, ✅ now added. My youngest son visited Japan for his first time during the same time as you. I continue to adore watching you both! 🎉
When did you head over to Japan?
Can't wait to watch this 😊
Maybe Washington D.C. for Cherry Blossom time.
I not only want to got to Japan, but I want to spend a whole month there.
Excellent 👍🎉
Thanks it was worth the waiting
