Tokyo Street Market: The Most Incredible Finds in Japan
I’m treasure hunting inside Yanaka Ginza, one of Tokyo’s most nostalgic and charming shopping streets hidden in the heart of old Japan and you won’t believe what I found.
Yanaka Ginza is one of Tokyo’s most iconic traditional market streets. Tucked away in the historic Yanaka district, this lively local market attracts Tokyo residents, street food lovers and curious travellers searching for handmade snacks, vintage treasures, traditional crafts and authentic Japanese atmosphere.
As I explore, you’ll see everything from sizzling yakitori and freshly made taiyaki to tiny family-run shops, handmade souvenirs and retro collectibles. Shop owners greet visitors warmly, the smell of grilled street food fills the air, and every corner feels like stepping back into old Tokyo.
But this isn’t just a market walk… somewhere along this nostalgic street is a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered…
And of course, we can’t leave Yanaka Ginza without trying one of the area’s most famous local treats: crispy menchi katsu the legendary deep-fried minced meat cutlet loved by locals.
Will I find the treasure? Watch to find out. 👀

I like your videos so much. The markets in all those different countries. Such cultures differ. Really nice
Great video shooting in a really interesting place — all the right close-ups! 😍👍 I’d get a set of oven mitts (or two) for sure 🐶👋😸
I would buy handmade items and items that I could not find in the U.S.
What day of the week is the market?
I’ve followed this channel for a long time now and the quality keeps surprising me every upload. The pacing, editing, and overall energy of the videos are always on point. Definitely one of the better channels I’m subscribed to.
This is a famous tourist destination in Tokyo and part of the historic Yanesen area. Unfortunately a Starbucks recently opened at the top of the Yuyake dandan (steps leading down to the shopping street). Please stop the gentrification by only spending your money at local businesses or this piece of historic Tokyo will be lost forever.
