Japan Vlog Ep 4: Temples, Raw Chicken & Sumo
Kyoto might actually be one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited… but this vlog also gets a little weird 😂
We spend the morning exploring temples in Kyoto before eating our way through Nishiki Market, finding ramen spots, and accidentally discovering one of my favorite desserts of the trip: a brulee donut.
Then the night takes a turn when we head to a yakitori restaurant and I’m introduced to something I absolutely did not expect to see in Japan… raw chicken.
The next day, we hop over to Osaka for one of the coolest experiences of this entire trip: live sumo wrestling. Watching the matches in person was incredible and somehow the day gets even better when we end the night eating hot pot at a former sumo wrestler’s restaurant while watching his old matches on the big screen.
Honestly… this whole day felt unreal.

About this 6-vlog series:
This series is a little different than what I normally make.
This was my first real vacation in the 6 years I’ve been a YouTuber and I filmed it mostly for myself. These are the videos I want to rewatch when I’m 90 and remember exactly what this trip felt like.
Most of these are actually edited by my new editor Kevin (hi Kevin), which also made it possible for me to just be present and enjoy the experience.
So no… this isn’t a “perfect” guide. I’m not naming every place or turning this into a step by step itinerary and that’s kind of the point.
I’m in Japan with my friend Scott Brills, founder of Eat Japan, a small group tour he runs a few times a year. He’s built something really special and this trip is about experiencing Japan through his lens.
If you want to experience this exact trip, you can check out his tour and reach out to him directly.

Otherwise… I’d just be giving away all his ahhhh-mazing secrets.
