What’s special about Japan’s Noto Satoyama Pokémon With You Airport?

Located in central Japan, Noto Airport will become the world’s first airport to bear the Pokémon name. The special branding will be in place from July 7, 2026, to September 30, 2029, during which the airport will feature 111 Pokémon characters.

As part of the changes in the design, the logo will now feature Pikachu sitting on a plane with a Poké Ball in the background. The two-storey atrium of the airport will also house a large balloon of the same design, along with countless other Pokémon painted on the walls, according to the press release shared by the airport.

Shopping

Fans can also buy original merchandise featuring the logo and artwork at the airport.

During their Japan trip, fans can also enjoy Pokémon-themed items (two types of pancakes and two types of drinks) at Restaurant Annon, located on the third floor of the Noto Airport.

The renaming, which was proposed last year in April by the Pokémon With You foundation, is an attempt to revitalise the Noto Peninsula Area. Noto was struck by an Earthquake on New Year’s Day 2024, and later that year, it faced heavy rains, which affected tourism in the area overall.

Ishikawa Governor Yukiyoshi Yamano said, “I want to give children in Noto an exciting experience and energise them as much as possible,” adding that he also hopes to attract many tourists.
