Join us on a Tokyo street walk in this video, strolling around the streets of Asakusa. It’s one of those areas most people visit on their first trip to Japan, to see Senso-ji, the oldest temple in Japan. There’s a touristy shopping street leading up to the temple called Nakamise Dori, impressive Kaminarimon Gate, and gardens with koi carp. Nearby there’s a free observation deck at the top of the Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Centre, where you can get a view of Senso-ji, the river, the SkyTree and the Asahi Building (aka golden poop). We also explore Hoppy Street, Orange Street and spot tanuki along Tanuki Street, near the Sanrio store.

  1. I can't wait to visit japan! Your videos make me feel confident to do it on our own without a tour group!

  2. That was well timed Amy, I'm flying out and staying in Asakusa in a couple of weeks time, it's my favourite part of Tokyo.

  3. Thanks. I get the impression we need to be prepared for a lot of visual stimulation when visiting Japan.

What is name of street/road where the shop with info on bees is?

  4. Thanks Amy! I walked from Ueno to Asakusa and the SkyTree on my recent trip. I was at Sensoji early and got some great photos without the crowds. I also met British F1 driver, Ollie Bearman, on a backstreet, and he graciously made a video for my daughter. That was crazy!
