How To Spend 3 PERFECT Days in NAGOYA | 2026 Itinerary

Most travelers fly into Tokyo, sprint to Kyoto, and never once consider Japan’s fourth-largest city sitting right in between. That’s a 40-year mistake. Nagoya has the country’s boldest regional food culture, a Kengo Kuma arena, and the Studio Ghibli theme park TIME Magazine named one of the world’s greatest places. Day 1 covers the castle district, the vintage arcades, and the tower Tokyo copied. Day 2 is Ghibli Park and the museum that proves Toyota started as a loom company. Day 3 trades the city for two Japanese Alps villages most visitors never realize are this close.

🚶 GETTING AROUND
From Chubu Centrair International Airport, take the Meitetsu μ-SKY Limited Express to Nagoya Station in 28 minutes. Once in the city, two subway lines do nearly all the work: the yellow Higashiyama Line and the purple Meijo Line. Pick up a Nagoya 1-Day Subway & Bus Ticket or Weekend Eco Ticket at the Oasis 21 information center inside Sakae Station. The pass covers all subways, city buses, and the Me-guru sightseeing loop, and unlocks discounts at attractions across the itinerary. For Ghibli Park, take the Higashiyama Line to Fujigaoka and transfer to the Linimo maglev. Day 3 runs on JR and the Nohi Bus; the Takayama-Hokuriku Area Tourist Pass only makes financial sense if you’re continuing onward to Kanazawa or Osaka.
