The Long Road South — Wakayama | Project 47 EP 19

Project 47: Episode 19 — Wakayama Prefecture

A solo motorcycle journey south along the wild Pacific coast of Japan. Episode 19 follows the long road through Wakayama—fighting relentless winds, searching for camp, and continuing deeper into Project 47.

After finally escaping Osaka, the road opened up again.

The plan was simple:

Follow the coast south through Wakayama.

After the noise and chaos of the city, the ocean felt like exactly where I needed to be.

But the further south I rode, the harder the wind hit.

What began as a peaceful coastal ride quickly turned into one of the most physically exhausting few days of the journey so far.

Hours of relentless crosswinds.
Endless ocean roads.
Small fishing towns.
Remote coastline.
And the constant feeling of needing to keep moving.

This wasn’t a travel guide.
There was no perfect route.
No checklist of attractions.

Just the long road south through Wakayama.

Along the way, the journey leads to hidden campsites, unexpected encounters with locals, the southern edge of Honshu, and finally… Nachi Falls.

A place I’d wanted to see for more than 20 years.

Project 47 is a cinematic solo motorcycle journey across all 47 prefectures of Japan—focused on real roads, changing plans, hidden places, and authentic adventure beyond the tourist trail.

One prefecture at a time.
