IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced a landmark partnership with FUJI KYUKO Co., Ltd to transform the legendary Hotel Mount Fuji into the next Vignette Collection property in Japan. Following an extensive renovation, the hotel will reopen as Hotel Mount Fuji, Vignette Collection, joining a growing portfolio of distinctive, one‑of‑a‑kind luxury hotels across the country.

Perched atop Mount Odeyama at 1,100 metres, the 150‑room property has been a cherished destination since its opening in 1963. Its elevated position offers uninterrupted, cinematic views of Mount Fuji, Japan’s tallest and most sacred peak, as well as sweeping vistas across Lake Yamanaka. Purpose‑built as a hotel dedicated to viewing Mount Fuji, it remains one of the region’s most atmospheric and storied vantage points.

The reimagined hotel will join two other celebrated Japanese properties within the Vignette Collection, RIGHA Royal Hotel Osaka and The Windsor Hotel TOYA, further strengthening IHG’s luxury and lifestyle presence in the country. The transformation will honour the hotel’s heritage while introducing contemporary design, elevated dining and a renewed sense of place.

Guests will be able to enjoy the natural beauty of the Fuji Five Lakes region year‑round, with access to hot springs, a sauna, swimming pool and a selection of restaurants showcasing local flavours. The surrounding area offers a wealth of activities, from golf and lake cruises to visits to nearby cultural landmarks such as Oshino Hakkai, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Thanks to its lofty position, the hotel also offers rare natural spectacles: stargazing under pristine night skies and, during certain seasons, the ethereal “sea of clouds” a phenomenon where fog blankets the landscape, giving the impression that the hotel is floating above the heavens.

Easily accessible from Tokyo in around two hours by car or direct bus from Shinjuku, the property will welcome both domestic and international travellers seeking a serene, design‑led escape framed by one of the world’s most iconic landscapes.

When it reopens as Hotel Mount Fuji, Vignette Collection, the property will usher in a new era for a beloved Japanese landmark one that blends heritage, nature and contemporary luxury in a setting unlike anywhere else.
