Scenes from Osaka, Japan

This week’s video is a long one, isn’t it? I had planned on having one episode to cover both Osaka and Kyoto. Once I got done with just covering Osaka, though, I figured I better split them up. The stuff from Kyoto will go up next week.

Osaka was definitely an interesting place and 3 days is nowhere near enough time to do a lot. I kept thinking of it as if you made Tokyo into an American city. It’s gritty, grimey, and there’s definitely a different vibe you get from the locals. Not a bad one, mind you. They really are more open than I found folks could be sometimes in other areas. The most surprising thing was just how fast I wanted to get out of Dotonbori. There’s a lot of energy and cool-looking places everywhere. But it is PACKED, man. Way too many people for me to deal with, certainly on a hot day. I was able to wander around it for a bit, though, and hopefully have enough footage to another Yakuza series comparison video in the future.

My biggest regret with this is just not shooting enough footage. And I think it shows with how I had to put this together, but I hope I did okay in salvaging what I could. I think it turned out alright. As per usual, here are some links and addresses to the places I hit up:
