We Drove 1,000km Across Japan With a Baby
Japan was a country we dreamed about visiting for years, but instead of trains and hotels, we decided to experience it a little differently.
For the next 17 days, we lived out of a tiny RV with our one-year-old daughter, driving over 1,000km through rural Japan. From the streets of Matsumoto and ancient Japanese castles to hidden ice caves near Mount Fuji, onsens in the mountains, snow monkeys bathing in hot springs, quiet roadside stations, late-night ramen shops, and some of the best scenery we’ve ever seen.
What started as a simple road trip quickly became something much more.
This is our full journey through rural Japan.

This ended up becoming one of the most meaningful trips we’ve ever taken.
Driving 1,000km across Japan in a tiny RV with a one-year-old definitely wasn’t always easy… but looking back now, we wouldn’t change a thing.
Would you ever road trip Japan like this? 🇯🇵
