Hype Is Building for the First-Ever Five-Day Tokyo Game Show, But What New PS5 Games Will Be There?

This year’s Tokyo Game Show will be its biggest ever, with organisers CESA describing it as the “longest five days of non-stop play”.

Historically the convention, held at Chiba’s iconic Makuhari Messe, has consisted of two business days and two consumer days. But this year there’ll be a third public day, aligning with a public holiday on Monday, 21st September.

Let us tell you, that Monday is going to get sweaty, folks!

The schedule is as follows:

Obviously the organisers are still in the early stages of planning the event, and exhibitors have until the end of May to sign up. We’ll start to get announcements about who will be there later in the year.

Last year Sony had a fairly sizable booth with playable games like Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, while mysterious titles like Ananta attracted enormous crowds after becoming playable for the first time.

This being the event’s 30th anniversary, we’re expecting a big show, potentially with major 2027 titles, like Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s third instalment, Dragon Quest 12 (assuming it’s ready for primetime), and Stranger Than Heaven.

Of course, the other big one everyone’s hoping to see more of soon is Kingdom Hearts 4, which is progressing “really smoothly” according to bigwig Tetsuya Nomura.

It’ll be interesting to see what the headline attractions are this year; we’re sure the upcoming Summer Game Fest will set most publishers’ agendas for the coming year.
