Join us as we take a look at the most recent light up events at the Shrines and Temples of Nikko.
Get more information from the links below.

Weve spent a lot of time enjoying the scenic beauty of Upper Nikko.
But today we will be checking out the temples and Shrines of Lower Nikko.
These world Heritage site are a pleasure to visit any time of year,
But they are especially beautiful in the fall due to the foliage.
The temples and shrines are usually only open during the day,
but they are holding a special light up event during November.
There are a number of parking options if you come by car
ranging from 3 dollars up to 10,
With the 5 dollar option by Rinnoji being our reccomendation.
Rinnoji is open for all to visit with a variety of food stalls and entertainment out front.
The illuminated garden ticket costs about $5.
The pond reflects the illuminated leaves and is quite a sight to behold.
The pond has a small bridge crossing it and a path circling it.
all surrounded by trees and moss covered rocks.
The largest Gate and Pagoda were well lit
but Nikko Toshogu was closed when we went were there.
We walked over to the west and found another small market,
we even stumbled upon a traditionally Japanese wedding ceremony which was pretty cool.

We also bought tickets for the light up event at the Taiyuin temple,
which is the final resting of Iesu Tokugawa.
It is quite similar to the Toshogu shrine,
save that the color themes used are largely red instead of gold.
The entrance was decorated with bamboo from Wakayama Farm.
The large number of stone lanterns looked nice at night with the small orange lights
The red gates with wooden dieties were quite impressive.
The innermost temple was also nice, but please note that there are several long flights of stairs,
so be ready for a climb.

Next Week, Keggon falls will be lit up for the first time.
Im guessing it will be quite beautiful.
we hope you enjoyed our footage,
and we think it will be worth your time if you have the opportunity
