Hokkaido I Japan (Winter) – Part 4 I Otaru DIY Trip
Come join us on Part 4 of our Hokkaido, Japan travel vlog as we explore the beautiful winter town of Otaru during February! ❄️🇯🇵
From our DIY train adventure from Sapporo to Otaru, snowy ocean views at Asari Station, famous vending machine photo spot, and experiencing snowfall while the temperature dropped below zero — this day truly felt magical.
We also experienced funny travel struggles like accidentally loading all our Sapica balance into one card, getting confused with train ticket gates, and learning that JR Lines don’t accept Sapica cards. 😂
In Otaru, we explored Sankaku Market, Otaru Canal, LeTAO cheesecake, glass museums, music box stores, steam clock, themed shops, gachapon machines, and so much more. We also tried delicious Hokkaido wagyu, fresh sea urchin rice, strawberries, seafood, and Lawson food haul back at the hotel.
One of the things we loved most in Otaru were the handmade glass crafts and creative designs. We even found cups that change colors depending on hot or cold liquids and unique no-drip soy sauce cruets. Me and my husband were honestly amazed wondering how they made the glass change colors just from different temperatures!
We also had a heartwarming moment when I lost one of my gloves in the middle of Otaru. After retracing our steps, I found it still lying on the ground untouched. That moment made me realize how honest and respectful Japanese people are.
And yes… walking on icy streets is harder than it looks! Even with snow shoes, we had to walk slowly and carefully to avoid slipping on the ice.
If you love seafood, Sankaku Market and Otaru are definitely places you should visit for fresh seafood and beautiful winter vibes.
Thank you for watching our Hokkaido adventure! ❤️
