




I didn’t want to shoot another standard Japan travel diary. Shinsekai at night is basically a giant wall of light, and my sequence tracks what it actually feels like to get totally burned out by it.
It kicks off right by the Tsutenkaku tower where the neon is blinding. You push through the crowds under these massive red signs, and it just scrambles your brain after a while. Everybody hits a wall eventually. So you duck into the back alleys.
The whole vibe flips. It goes from screaming loud to dead silent in the span of maybe two blocks. The final shot is just a phone booth in the dark. Waiting on a ride, finally getting off your feet, and leaving the noise behind.
