Investigators in Kyoto say a murder suspect told them that he got furious at his son who said “you are not my real father.”

The body of 11-year-old Adachi Yuki was found in a wooded area in Nantan City, Kyoto, in April.

The 37-year-old father, Adachi Yuuki, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly killing Yuki by strangling him with both hands at a public restroom in the city in the morning of March 23. It followed his arrest in April on suspicion of abandoning Yuki’s body.

The suspect reportedly told police that he drove Yuki toward his school in the morning, but did not drop him off there. Instead he drove him to the public restroom and killed him.

During a volunteer questioning session before the first arrest, the father said that he got angry with Yuki who said, “You are not my real father.” The father legally adopted the boy last year when he married his mother.

Police are investigating what led the suspect to carry out the crime, including the relationship with his son.
