Perched on the 9th floor of the Gale Miami Hotel & Residences in downtown Miami, 400 Vinyl Room is the city’s latest late-night hangout bringing a dose of Tokyo cocktail culture and Hollywood’s Golden Age.
With deep velvet curtains, curated sound systems and endless records, the new listening lounge was dreamed up by the team behind Yamashiro Miami, a beloved institution hailing all the way from Los Angeles with an 111-year history. But while Yamashiro offers rooftop dines with skyline views, this 60-seat lounge is where the night really begins.
Feeling as though you’re walking straight into 1970s hi-fi culture and one of the many underground vinyl bars of Tokyo, the space is covered in amber lighting, bespoke furnishings and shelves upon shelves of vinyl records. Designed by AMA Designs, it aims to be a sacred place for music lovers looking to have lingering conversations and serious listening.
The vinyl-only sounds that play in the lounge set the perfect tone, with everything from funk to soul, disco and ’80s Latin. Expect nightly themed sessions alongside visiting DJs and guest selectors keeping the energy going all night.
As for the cocktail menu, groovy highlights include All Night Long, a bright highball with vodka, strawberry cordial, grapefruit and club soda; and Saturday Night Fever, a bold, high-energy combination of Código Blanco tequila, lemon, honey, cilantro, sriracha and wasabi salt. There’s also Smooth Operator, featuring Vida Tobalá, Midori, lime and basil.
The Louis Collection
If you want to sample a few different flavors, they offer a “Tiny Sips” menu of concentrated, small-format cocktails, as well as a large selection of champagne that is offered by the glass and bottle. If you’re feeling extra fancy, there’s a tableside champagne cart with caviar service.
400 Vinyl Room is inspired by Yamashiro Hollwood’s legendary “400 Club,” which once served as a gathering place for the film industry’s elite in the 1920s. You can find the new lounge, open on select evenings, next to Yamashiro Miami on the 9th floor of 159 NE 6th Street.
