Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, left for Japan early Saturday on a seven-day visit.

He departed Dhaka via Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, according to a party statement.

He is accompanied by Jamaat-e-Islami Central Executive Council member Saiful Alam Khan Milon MP and Foreign Affairs Adviser Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem Arman MP.

During the visit, Dr. Rahman is scheduled to hold courtesy meetings and exchange views with various political and other prominent figures in Japan.

He is expected to return to Dhaka on May 9.
