Don’t sleep on this park when in Tokyo. The 2-hour drive is worth it! Check out Hitachi Seaside Park! Make sure to check the nemophila meter on the park’s website. This photo was taken April 13 and the meter was just around 70-80%!

It’s been my dream to see this in person but I’m never in Japan when the nematodes are in bloom. 💙🩵
edit: Sorry for the typo, it should be ‘nemophila’ not nematodes 😭

Was there just this afternoon! So glad they’re in full bloom but they look better with blue skies. Unfortunately, it was cloudy today

I went just this past Sunday. It was beautiful. I believe it’s best until the 25th this year and then it slowly starts to diminish.
Pro tip: check the site for the opening time. Normally it’s 9am, but during peak season it’s 7. Get there early so you can leave early and avoid traffic if you’re driving back toward Tokyo.
Also, there’s a Costco right across the street from there if you want to get some groceries done or grab some cheap lunch after checking out the park.

I didn’t know this flower was called ‘baby blue eyes’ in English! How adorable!

I went last weekend. Would not recommend it on the weekend as every other Japanese and foreigner and their mother are in the park on weekends. On the plus side, everyone heads straight to the nemophila and then goes straight home. The park is huge, there is so much more to see that just the nemophila (not even the most impressive part imo).

Go on a weekday if you can.
