Yūki Adachi, the adoptive father of an 11-year-old boy over whose death he was arrested last week, had told others that his son had gone missing before a schoolteacher called to say that the boy had not come to school, investigators said Monday.
According to investigators, victim Yuki Adachi was confirmed to have eaten breakfast at home on the morning of March 23. At around 8:30 a.m., his teacher realized the victim hadn’t come to school yet and called his mother at around 11:50 a.m. His father called the police at around noon.
Police sources said the suspect, who was arrested last Thursday on suspicion of abandoning the victim’s body, had called other people to say that his son had gone missing, even before the schoolteacher had called his mother.
