another meal along the Nakasendo trail (Magome-juku)

sansai soba (noodles with wild mountain vegetables and mushrooms) and round gohei mochi (rice cake in skewers grilled in sweet and savory sauce)

the traditional looking kettle over the fireplace, more than just being good design, actually provided much needed warmth
