Why Kyoto needs tourists to change their behavior now #japanovertourism #kyoto

For me Kyoto is one of the most beautiful cities in the world…
But right now, it’s also one of the most overwhelmed ❤️‍🩹.

Narrow streets filled beyond capacity.
Quiet neighborhoods turning into constant photo spots.

In areas like Gion, restrictions had to be introduced —
just to protect geisha and preserve what’s left of local life.

I was talking to local Japanese people. And this isn’t just about tourism. It’s about people trying to live in their normal peaceful life.

If we truly love places like Kyoto, we have to learn how to travel differently ⤵️

❕Be respectful of local customs.
❕Stay mindful in public spaces.
❕ Keep noise down in residential areas.
❕ Take care of your waste.
❕ And sometimes… choose less crowded places.

Because beauty deserves respect, not just attention.

Let’s protect Kyoto, its culture, and the people who call it home 🙏✨. Of course as well as other areas of Japan 🇯🇵 that became extremely popular recently among tourists.
