Kyoto Without the Crowds? A 3-Day Itinerary Beyond the Tourist Spots
Read my full Kyoto travel guide (without the crowds) 🔗 https://jesslouiseellis.substack.com/p/three-days-kyoto-travel-guide
Planning a trip to Kyoto but want to avoid the crowds? In this video, I’m sharing a slower way to spend three days in Kyoto, finding quieter neighbourhoods, unique experiences and some of the most memorable moments from our three-week trip to Japan.
From a cycling tour with a local guide and exploring the historic Fushimi sake district, to a day trip to Uji for matcha and one very special evening dining with a Maiko. We also visit Ginkaku-ji, walk the Philosopher’s Path at golden hour, and end with autumn illuminations at Eikandō Temple.
If you’re planning your first Japan itinerary — or looking for Kyoto travel tips beyond the usual hotspots — I hope this guide gives you a different perspective on this incredible city.
This video is part of my Japan series from a recent three-week trip, so don’t miss my guides for Tokyo, Takayama, Kanazawa and Shibu Onsen.

Always love your videos Jess 🥰 this one was so lovely x
Hi Jess, I love your videos and hope to visit some of these places again this year. At the risk of sounding like a pain, I would like to make a suggestion, which is- if you are a bit more accurate in your pronunciation of place names, it could help those who are going there for the first time. I'm Aussie too, so I understand where you meant, but Takayama sounded like Tekkyama each time you said it. Sorry to sound critical.
Autumn there looks SO beautiful, and I loved your suggestions. Great video. Thank you 🙂
Can we please have the exact name and adresse of mizuno kaiseki ? Thankssss❤
