I can’t believe people actually pay for cocoichi. There’s no vegetables or meat in the curry itself and that tonkatsu is tiny…

    It’s like McDonald’s.

Food snobs are going to come here and be like “wow I can’t believe you went there instead of some independent chain etc etc” but here’s the thing

I’ve eaten some amazing japanese food in remote towns, I’ve paid hundreds for amazing quality wagyu and I’ve had some amazing japanese curries.

Sometimes I just want cocos, just like sometimes I want McDonald’s, it just hits the spot in a comfy way.

The curry sauce is seriously so addictive.

Personally not a fan. Just doesnt taste good to me.

But a lot of friends like it and I do like how many spice levels they have. Helps with customizing.

    Unpopular opinion,
I’ve been a month In japan, i ate in few places curry, tbh, coco curry was the best one so far, also has best toppings.

Same with ramen. ichiran ramen was one of the best i ate, Maybe price ain’t the cheapest but taste and size is great.

I don’t understand the hate around those chains.

    Good and delicious food.

Could you find cheaper? Sure. Could you find better taste? I guess. But it’s much more available and definitely hit the spot for what it is.

Chasing for the best taste is ridiculous. If the food is delicious, then it’s delicious and thats it.

Enjoy your life and stop copy paste how those chains are bad.

I’m about to travel for another month in japan. Am i going to try new places? Ofcourse no doubt! Am i going to eat in coco and ichiramen again? Ofcourse i will. It was delicious!

Try the sewfood version, it’s excellent.

Im not into katsu curry very much. I make it at home all the time because everyone else loves it, and I’m just really bored of it. Went to Coco’s for the ease of customisation, and to simply be able to say that I have eaten curry in Japan once, to check it off the list.

I selected a bunch of random stuff I wouldn’t think of at home and it was one of the best meals I’ve had in Japan. That includes those mom and pop places in small alleyways with no Google map recognition. It was simply a nice meal and a bit different than what I expected. Very nice and didn’t have to speak to anyone.

Price tag is high, but good enough to try. I like Cocos. I didn’t bother trying Ichiran.

CoCo Ichi is always my first dinner whenever I visit Japan, without fail.
