We spent 11 nights in Japan and as it was my wife’s first time in Japan, we did Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto as our main cities. However, we planned a night in Hakone, and it was the perfect getaway to escape the masses of people exploring the main hubs. We chose to stay at a ryokan with a private onsen, with a kaiseki dinner included and it was the best experience. Well recommended!

I absolutely loved Hakone and wish I could have stayed longer. It was super stormy and foggy when we were there which was amazing for our private Onsen.

  3. We cut corners at this destination and stayed at a Dormy inn just west of Hakone and would take the bus 40 min to the Hakone rope way. It was a huge success.

I will say this, we didn’t have a private onsen but the dormy onsen and the roof foot bath were great. Probably the best view of Fuji we had that whole trip was sitting on the roof at 6am with our coffee, feet in the hot water.

But in general Hakone is magical, been there 3 times. Much love.

This looks so relaxing! Which Ryokan did you stay at?

Hakone is very nice. Stayed there for 2 nights at the Odakyu Hotel de Yama. Quite pricey but it was worth it for the experience of visiting Hakone.

It was definitely the calmest part of our trip and relaxing. I wouldn’t visit every year but maybe every few years.

I definitely will check out the place you stayed at next time!

This whole post feels odd. It’s a commercial for your business?
