What it’s REALLY Like at Tokyo Disneyland! 🇯🇵
✨ Welcome back to On the Fly!
G’day guys – Well, we finally made it to Tokyo Disneyland — one of the most famous theme parks in the world… and something we’ve been so excited to experience together as a family.
After hearing so much about it over the years, we thought we had a pretty good idea of what to expect. But honestly, it didn’t take long to realise this day was going to be a little different….
From navigating huge crowds and insanely long wait times, to experiencing some truly magical moments, incredible rides, and a few things that completely caught us off guard.
This day really had a bit of everything.
There were moments that lived up to the hype — and others that, well… didn’t quite hit the mark.
So in this video, we’re taking you through our entire first day — to show you what it’s really like experiencing Tokyo Disneyland for the very first time.

So that's what it's REALLY like at Tokyo Disneyland 😮
Hi, I'm Japanese. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your trip to Japan.
It's a shame the fireworks were disappointing.
If you'd like to see authentic Japanese fireworks, there are free fireworks festival held throughout Japan. These are mainly held in the summer.
In Tokyo, the Jingu Fireworks Festival, Tamagawa Fireworks Festival, and Sumida River Fireworks Festival are famous, and you can see over 10,000 fireworks. However, authentic Japanese fireworks are very loud, so young children might be frightened if they see them up close.
Actually, Tokyo Disneyland is sometimes relatively empty on nights when international soccer matches or other sports broadcasts are airing.
Please enjoy your trip!
Welcome to Japan.
I’m quite familiar with Tokyo Disney Resort, but the idea that “the fireworks at Tokyo Disneyland are amazing” is actually misleading.
The fireworks have always been more like a short add-on program lasting only a few minutes, and people who are familiar with the park don’t usually go out of their way to watch them. If you’re spending the evening at TDL, I would instead recommend the projection mapping show on the castle or the colorful Electrical Parade. Truly spectacular Japanese fireworks can be experienced elsewhere, on different occasions.
Not just at Disneyland, but in urban areas and major tourist spots across Japan, there are extremely large crowds right now, and overtourism is a real issue. For almost any experience in the city, if you don’t make reservations in advance, you’ll either end up waiting in long lines or having to give up.
If you’re hoping for a more relaxed trip or memorable experiences, I think it’s a good idea to look for less well-known places.
Unfortunately, fireworks in Tokyo Disney are going to be underwhelming compared to other international Disney parks. If you look at a map like google maps, you will see that there is a huge residential/suburban area very near Tokyo Disney Resort. Along with Japan having some of the strictest noise regulations/laws in the world, it results in Tokyo Disney Resort only being allowed a couple of small fireworks within allowed times. So Tokyo Disney Resort can't have those massive fireworks like in WDW, otherwise they get thousands of noise complaints every day.
if you go now on April 2026, you can see the spectacular electrical night parade and the reach for the stars with Disney stories illuminating the castle and fire/ fireworks… don't miss it !! I saw it last Saturday ❤
Really good
Really nice to see the reactions of the kids, ours had the same visiting Disney Paris. What is funny though is our kids know Moana, Frozen more that’s the classic characters like Snow White/ Cinderella 😂
小さな天使いるね
I got emotional too Leah, getting to give your child/children a magical experience like Disneyland & getting to experience it with them too, it just makes everything even more magical & special. Especially because we have nothing like that in NewZealand. Enjoy your travels!!
