Slow Kyoto without Long Walking | Senior Travel Tips

I love Kyoto, but Kyoto’s major difficulty to travel are, the crowd and the sites ask for long walking. Is it possible to travel Kyoto with elderly or one with mobility issue? I explored Kyoto with my mother, and it didn’t turn out as I planned.

Your mother is very proud of you.
Her son provides helpful information in a gentle manner.
Much respect for your mother, who raised you to be a kind and dependable man upon which others can rely.
Thanks!
So nice and considerate of you to make a video with your mother, you're an amazing son. She must be proud! Thank you for making videos for us.
Konichiwa Kenchan san, what a beautiful trip and vlog, your mother must be proud of you. Kyoto looks beautiful as ever. When I visited last October, I stayed in the same area as your hotel and found access to local transport excellent. Where I live, there is a famous river nearby, and I have an affinity for rivers; the Kamo truly cleanses the stress away from the soul. Until your next beautiful vlog, take care.
Your mother is very cute. I'm arriving in HND to visit my mom in a few weeks. She always knows the best places to eat
Thanks for visiting my favorite city in Japan and for taking your mother. I've been twice to Japan and want too again. I would love to take my parents, but mother will also have difficulty walking around. One of these days it is going to be a one-way ticket to Japan, no looking back!
I've been living here for over ten years and the only time i've almost missed the shinkansen was when i used the smart ex app. Never again! I would not recommend 😮💨 Great video as always . Thanks
These are great tips. I have taken my 85 year old grandpa and recently my 85 year old father who lived in Japan for 5 years. My father is much less mobile. For short ride from Osaka station to hotel or other way around we opted for taxi. My tip would be to use Google Translate and apologize that it’s a short trip but your loved one cannot walk well. The taxi drivers were very understanding after reading it since it was such a short ride (a few blocks). Definitely have to consider the speed of your loved one and have patience
What a great idea for a video! I am considering a trip with my mother-in-law, but her walking is limited, so this video gave me some good ideas!
Great video ^^. Do you know if is possible to use DiDi without a japanese mobile number?
Your video just comes in time for me because I am visiting Kyoto in early May after the Golden week. I choose less crowds (hopefully) over cherry blossoms in April. I plan to go to some of the major sites in Kyoto. I am a little nervous about the long queues for the city buses and limited availability for some well-known restaurants serving Kyoto cuisine without reservations. I use eSIM for my mobile phone which is not quite convenient to make phone calls for restaurant reservations. I wonder I could bother the hotel reception to call for me. I suppose few YouTubers do videos which take into consideration for seniors' travel. Well done, Kenchan. Thanks.
Very thoughtful. I hope your mother is doing well.
Walking too far, just pushing on, I made that mistake too. I walked too much on my first Saturday, and hurt my feet and legs. It spoilt my whole trip. I should have taken a taxi or a bus.
In Kyoto, the buses are much too small. They are so outdated, and not suited for such a big tourist city.
Such great advice! Your mother is lovely.
This video is very useful and lovely ❤ It reminded me of my mother who recently passed away. Please, keep traveling and enjoying lots of time with your mom 💝
You have a beautiful and sweet mom. It’s so wonderful to see both of you enjoying the cherry blossoms. Great video.
Thanks for the suggestions!
Thanks for all your amazing videos.. I really appreciate the effort and tips you share with these😊
That’s so nice that you took your mother to Kyoto. I love your videos. I took my family to Tokyo for several weeks and we fell in love with Japan. When I watch your videos I get that same feeling I had when I was there.
Good video! It was nice to meet your mom. I have another tip: at major sites, don’t stay until it closes. Everyone will leave at the same time and buses and taxis will be full or difficult to get.
What a good son, thanks for making this video as I was planning to take my elder Mom traveling to Japan too
Thank you for this video. Kyoto looks beautiful but making up a list of sites to visit makes it look daunting. I can’t wait to see it. And now that I’ve watched your video I feel less overwhelmed. I think it’s wonderful that you went with your mother. Arigatougozaimasu 🙏
I aggravated my knee injury while walking down the hills in Onomichi recently, so this video is helpful for my next trip to Kyoto in the fall. Some of us need information like this to still enjoy Japan
