Fuji Five Lakes Travel Vlog | Chureito Pagoda, Lake Kawaguchi, Oishi Park & Oshino Hakkai Day Trip
Good morning from Fujiyoshida! We begin our second day around the Fuji Five Lakes (Fujigoko) with breakfast at the hotel before heading out to explore some of the most famous Mount Fuji sightseeing spots.
First stop is the Chureito Pagoda at Arakurayama Sengen Shrine, where we climbed 398 steps for the iconic view of Mount Fuji framed by the red pagoda. Although the weather turned cloudy by mid-morning, the shrine and autumn leaves still made it a beautiful visit.
Next, we rode the train to Kawaguchiko Station, the gateway to Lake Kawaguchi. After a quick lunch of Japanese rice balls (onigiri), we explored Oishi Park, known for its seasonal flowers and red Kochia bushes in October. Despite the cloudy skies, Lake Kawaguchi was stunning.
Our journey continued to Oshino Hakkai, a traditional village with spring-fed ponds formed from Mount Fuji’s snowmelt. Each pond has its own legend and charm, surrounded by thatched-roof houses, waterwheels, and local snacks like Kusa Mochi.
We ended the day with a delicious dinner at Katsuan, where I tried a crispy pork cutlet set meal, before returning to the hotel to rest.
