Had this meal as one of my last in Tokyo. It came with this side of small tofu in a red sauce. It was so good I think about it often. Can you help me identify it?

    That’s mapo tofu, it’s a Chinese dish.

    Edit: the Japanese version tends to be more mild, and you can buy instant mapo tofu at the supermarket.

    Rice, gyoza/dumplings, karage, mapu tofu. Dunno what that broth with sesame seed looking things is.
