Over the past few years a Japanese music label called BMSG has been gaining a lot of attention.

The company was founded in 2020 by rapper and producer SKY-HI, and it has grown surprisingly fast. In less than five years the company reported over ¥2.3 billion in net profit, which is unusual for a relatively young music label in Japan.

What makes BMSG interesting isn’t just the artists themselves, but the philosophy behind the label. Instead of emphasizing competition between performers, BMSG often highlights the idea of artists growing together. Collaboration between groups is common, and many of their artists are involved in songwriting and creative direction.

Several groups under the label were also introduced through documentary-style audition programs that allowed fans to follow the entire journey from training to debut.

Some of the artists include:

  • BE:FIRST
  • MAZZEL
  • HANA
  • STARGLOW

I wrote a guide explaining how the label works, the artists involved, and why it feels different from traditional entertainment companies in Japan.

Would love to hear what people here think — especially if you've followed any of these groups.
