With approximately 9.5 million Koreans visiting Japan last year, JCB, Japan’s largest credit card company, is rolling out tailored services for Korean travelers with enhanced local discount benefits.
JCB held a press day event in Jung-gu, Seoul, on Monday and unveiled its new premium services. Watanabe Takahiko, head of JCB International’s Korea branch, attended in person to introduce the offerings.
JCB is a payment network company that provides services including card issuance, mobile payments and contactless payments. In Korea, the company issues co-branded cards through eight card issuers: BC Card, Shinhan Card, Hana Card, KB Kookmin Card, Lotte Card, NH NongHyup Card, Woori Card and Samsung Card.
The new premium services introduced this year include: △10% cashback on tap-to-pay transactions on buses and trains in Japan △1,000 yen cashback on purchases of 20,000 yen or more at Don Quijote △10% cashback at JCB-selected popular restaurants.
JCB is also running a monthly lottery event inviting 50 winners to Universal Studios Japan. A separate promotion offers priority check-in and priority baggage handling to the first 14 customers who purchase Incheon-Narita route tickets on the ZIPAIR official website.
JCB provides a wide range of services centered on travel, spanning hotels, leisure and shopping. JCB Premier cardholders can access major airport lounges worldwide, as well as Korean airport lounges and valet parking services.
In Japan, JCB operates an exclusive members-only lounge in the Ginza district. The company also has a JCB lounge inside an attraction at Universal Studios Japan. Additionally, JCB supports customers with restaurant reservations, shopping and other needs through a global concierge service available 24 hours a day, year-round, in multiple languages.
