Our First Week in Tokyo Was NOT What We Expected! 🇯🇵

We thought we were ready for Tokyo… but our first week in Tokyo, Japan proved otherwise. As first-time visitors travelling with our kids, we dive straight into the chaos, culture, and incredible contrasts that make this city so unforgettable.

From the peaceful forest and shrine grounds of Meiji Jingu to the overwhelming crowds at the world-famous Shibuya Crossing, Tokyo constantly surprised us. In this travel vlog we explore some of the city’s most iconic spots including Tokyo Skytree, the historic grounds of the Tokyo Imperial Palace, the electric streets of Akihabara, and the incredibly busy Senso-ji in Asakusa.

    Lovely video! Trust me: we were in Tokyo in February (for two weeks) and visited nearly all Pokemon Centers and they were all just as busy no matter the time of day, haha.

    ⚫︎滋賀県（京都の隣りの県）
    実は、京都や奈良に負けない文化遺産（歴史が古い寺、神社、城）が、とても豊かな自然と共に残っています。
    日本最大の湖である琵琶湖があり、景色を楽しめるだけでなく、琵琶湖でお子さまと一緒に楽しめるアクティビティも豊富です。

    ⚫︎福井県（滋賀県の北側）
    恐竜博物館があり、こちらは世界三大恐竜博物館のひとつです。入場は事前予約が必要。
    博物館の周りに緑豊かな公園があり、子供のための遊具がたくさんあります。

    ⚫︎三重県（滋賀県の南側）
    飼育種類数が日本一の水族館である鳥羽水族館、生き物との触れ合い体験が多くできる伊勢シーパラダイス、森に覆われた伊勢神宮、なぜか日本でスペイン文化を楽しめる志摩スペイン村など（←小さなお子さまが楽しめる乗り物がいろいろある。大人は本場のフラメンコダンスショーやパレードを楽しめます）
    近鉄電車を利用するなら『まわりゃんせ』という切符がお得だと、こちらの動画で紹介されてます。

    ⚫︎北海道 函館市（東京から飛行機で1時間かからない。新幹線もある）
    函館山から見る街の夜景がとにかく素晴らしい！魚介類はもちろん、食べ物とスイーツはなんでもおいしい。海が見える温泉や、道産子という少し小柄な北海道の馬に乗れる牧場もある。
    大きくない街の中に魅力的な場所がコンパクトに詰まっていて、旅行者は楽しみやすい。歴史ある寺と神社もあり、こちらの動画の後半にそれらの紹介もあります。

    Fiverrで「Japanese virtual assistant」「Japan travel planner」で検索して、日本人に効率的な交通手段を確認してもらうのも良い方法だと思います。
    登録したばかりの人は安価な時給を提示してますが、日本人ならしっかり調べて旅のプランを考えてくれますよ😊

    ハードスケジュールな旅、お疲れ様です。
    日本を知る身としては成田空港近くのホテルで一泊して、飛行機の疲れをとってから、ダウンタウンに繰り出したら良かったのでは？とも思いました。
    お子さん連れだと都会より田舎に滞在された
    ほうが落ち着いて過ごせたようにも思います。

    The Edo-Tokyo Museum will be reopening in Ryogoku, Tokyo, in one week. I highly recommend it. If you're visiting Japan, you should definitely check it out.

    So you guys took the flight to Narita(Chiba prefecture) instead of the flight to Haneda(Tokyo) to save money? And you guys took the cheaper Skyiner with many transits instead of NatitaExpress which go straight to Tokyo station and/or Shinjuku Station? Again to save some money? With all those luggages and small kids?
    Even Japanese ppls won’t do that in my opinion. 😮

    　お子さんもう、体重も、そこそこ有るでしょうに、おんぶして歩き回って　大変だったと思いました。
    　私が、この頃でしたら、そりゃそりゃ　体力なく　1時間位で、無理ってなってたと、思い出しましたよ。

    When you say Tokyo is intense, I think you described it perfectly. I was mentally and visually exhausted by 14 days there and thank heavens for lots of quiet little spots and gardens around the place in the most unexpected places.

    I cannot begin to imagine how you coped with the walking and travel with cases WITH 2 tiny children! I was on my own with a friend who lives in Tokyo and found everything completely overwhelming . It is a lot easier to catch taxis everywhere and have your luggage sent on from one accomodation to the next. By Couriers

    I'm curious what foreigners think when they use a shower toilet for the first time. Some rich and famous people have them installed when they get back home. There is a TOTO shop in Clerkenwell, London.

    NANJATOWN: Fun indoor theme park.

    Sunshine Aquarium: A unique rooftop aquarium.

    KidZania Tokyo: A place where kids (from age 3) can try out different jobs.

    Toyosu Senkyaku Banrai: Great place for fresh Sushi and foot baths.

    Sanrio Puroland: Hello Kitty & Sanrio characters theme park.

    Ghibli Museum, Mitaka: The magical world of Studio Ghibli.

    Japan tourists need to be severely limited. Used to be a much better experience before the tourist sites got so over congested like a Disneyland destination. Hoping that new leadership addresses this deteriorating situation.

    You should definitely visit KidZania Tokyo.
    KidZania is an interactive amusement park unique to Japan where children are the main characters.

    I couldn’t help but notice that the wife was always carrying the daughter on her back all the while pushing the carriage with the baby. While he walked freely without a care in the world.
