Why We Keep Coming Back to Fukui, Japan

Raina’s trip: https://www.japan-guide.com/ad/fukui-favorites/

Fukui has everything we love on a trip: peaceful temples surrounded by forest, amazing local food, friendly people, and…no crowds.
In this video we want to share some of our favorite spots, from Zen temples and forest shrines to dinosaurs and local food. Hopefully you’ll see why we keep coming back!

This video was made in collaboration with Fukui City.

  1. Being a Canadian working on planning out my friend's and I's next Japan trip I just sent to the group chat "Guys! We need to go to Japan's Drumheller!" Fukui looks so beautiful. Thanks for the video, I love learning about less visited areas of Japan.

  2. Not mentioning the Takefu Knive Village, where one of the best knives in the world are made is truly a missed opportunity.

  3. Did you know that a town of Tsuruga that is near has a history that combines Poland with Japan ? There is a museum there that shows this story.

  4. If one wants to visit the dinosaur museum, remember not to go on weekend as it will be full of families as kids love dinosaurs 😂

  5. Another great video, thanks. But I would add Echizen Daibutsu as an absolute must, especially when you are in Heisenji Hakusan Shrine

  6. Thank you for this great video Raina ! We will be in Fukui city for 3 nights in March, mainly because of the Dinosaur museum and Eiheiji Temple. We will also be visiting Yokokan garden.

Otherwise, I have been wondering about Heisenji Hakusan Shrine, Ichijodani Asakura Clan Ruins or Echizen Great Buddha, but I believe that those places are very difficult to reach by public transport (and we both dont drive) ?
