I couldnt take the pollution in Bangkok any longer so headed for the fresh air of Okinawa Japan. There I enjoyed some amazing food. Great Steaks and Spam? I was told I had to try it when I was there so I did. I will give you my thoughts.

Greeny after living in Japan for 6 years I got caught out once after only being there for a month or so, I was starving to proceeded to eat walking along to be told by a Japanese person its extremely rude to do that. I guess when in Rome and all that !

Canned meat makes sense on a tiny island.
Okinawa is one of the best places in the world, spent 6 years there in the USAF. Travel up north and visit the costal villages. They also have a folk village off Hwy 58. Also see if you can visit Kadena AB, it will open your eyes to little America in Asia. I'm jealous of you.

Soapy, yes very expensive. Very little red light areas otherwise. If you’re still there, there’s a little restaurant at the bottom of futenma marine base just outside base called ‘my house’. Get the steak, try the teriyaki chicken too. Good prices for what you get. Okinawa is also famous for their taco rice. Pretty boring there unless you just want to pound Orion all day.
Been eating spam since I was a kid. Cut it up grill it mix it with egg rice and bean. A Mexican staple. Don’t care for it it raw. Ever been to Hawaii? Love their spam. Loco Moco is the best! Got a a Hawaiian place over here in Santa Barbara has it.

Don't quote me on this but I believe SPAM originated in Albert Lee. Minnesota. I'm from Michigan and we would have fried SPAM occasionally. Btw… I served in the USAF for four years of which 18 months was on Kadena AFB, Okinawa. Honorable discharged in 1973. Retired and staying in Pattaya, TH.
