TOKYO: ISHIBA Shigeru, a Special Envoy of Japanese Prime Minister TAKAICHI Sanae, told UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan he hopes the upcoming state visit of the President to Japan will elevate the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries to even greater heights.
Ishiba, who is also Chairman of the Japan-United Arab Emirates Parliamentary Friendship League, paid a courtesy call on Sheikh Mohamed on Thursday and handed over a letter from Prime Minister Takaichi. Ishiba stated that the President’s state visit to Japan – scheduled for February 8-10 – will mark a new chapter in the history of bilateral relations, which spans over 50 years.
Ishiba, Takaichi’s predecessor as prime minister, also met with Saqr Bin Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, the Speaker of the Federal National Council, and exchanged views on further advancing bilateral relations, building on the opportunity presented by the President’s state visit to Japan.
The two sides held a candid exchange of views on regional and international situations, including recent developments in the Middle East.
