Shuri Castle is situated in Naha, the capital city of Okinawa, Japan.
Okinawa was once not a part of Japan but a part of the Ryukyu Kingdom.
It was it’s own entity with it’s own kings until Japan took control.
In the great battle of Okinawa (WWII), the Shuri Castle was destroyed. It has since been rebuilt to it’s former glory.
The several dynasties of kings of Okinawa resided here.
It was later re-purposed as a University Campus and is now a beautiful exhibition where you can learn all about it’s history.
