VIP Luxury Vacation in Japan ($1000) π―π΅
This is me in a $400 hotel in Japan, experiencing a $300 sushi makas, riding Japan’s fastest bullet trains, and taking a $150 VIP fairy. All of this and more in today’s video, where I spend over $1,000 for the ultimate luxury vacation in Japan. And we’re starting our luxury experience in Japan with a $300 sushi makas. If you don’t know what sushi makasa is, it’s a Japanese dining experience where the chef chooses and serves a series of sushi courses based on what’s fresh and in season. I had a bit of trouble finding the place, but I made it on time. Once seated, they asked what I’d like to drink. And since I were in Japan, of course, I went with some sake. It’s going to be my second time trying sake. It tastes like sweet water. Before the sushi started, we warmed up our taste buds with a Japanese custard topped with caviar and a few other dishes. Honestly, I had no idea what half of them were, but they looked and tastes amazing. It’s like watching someone perform art, but you’re also eating at the same time. I am getting shivers, you know. Then it was time for sushi. 12 pieces in total. Each one was made with so much care and precision. Every bite felt like an art in my mouth. That was supposed to be squid, but I have no idea how it melted in my mouth. Perfectly seasoned, balanced, and full of flavor. So, right now, we’re going to eat one of those king tunas. It weighs almost one quarter of me. Okay. Wow. So meaty. It’s hard to explain how special it felt being there, but it’s definitely something you should try at least once. We ended with desserts and chatted with the chefs for a while, but it was getting late and tomorrow was a big day. I was heading to Beu, Japan’s legendary onen town, where to be staying at a 400 Ryakan hotel to experience real Japanese hospitality. But first, I had to get there. That meant taking a $100 bullet train from Tokyo to Osaka and then an overnight VIP ferry from Osaka to Beu. Buying tickets for the bullet train wasn’t easy. Do you have that ticket? This ticket? Uh, no. Two kind ticket. No, I just buy this here. Yeah. Apparently, you need two separate tickets. One for the reserve seat and another one for the train itself. Not sure why it’s so complicated. But hey, that’s Japan. Bro, I have no idea what’s going on. I can’t buy a ticket and I’m actually late. Apparently, there’s some kind of a ticket counter. I’m going to try to use this one and buy the tickets here. I want to buy the shinkansen ticket. I buy this another ticket. I just want to go with the shinkansen. Yeah, I have here another ticket. Yeah, this card. This is your receipt. Okay. And then this is the ticket. So, which one do I insert? Two tickets, please. Two tickets I insert. Really? Wow. Okay. Thank you. At least I wasn’t the only one confused. Finally, I got inside. And this is Japan’s famous Shinkansen. reaching speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour or 186 miles per hour for all the freedom lovers out there. At first, there was nowhere to sit if you’re not using your brain at 100% capacity because there’s one seat still available. This seat still available. So, you are basically just put this down and sit here. genius. But after a few stops, a kind gentleman let me take the window seat. Perfect for filming some of the shots I wanted. The only time I feel that I’m going like really fast and it feels kind of dizzy is when you try to like keep your eyes into on one spot. So I think because it’s moving so fast, you know, your mind just can’t register and you kind of feel dizzy, you know. Look, we’re going now 275 km/h. That’s pretty fast. 282. After about 2 hours, I arrived in Osaka. But the trip wasn’t over yet. I had to take a few more trains to reach the ferry terminal. But thankfully, Google Maps makes everything super easy here. Once I arrived, I grabbed my ferry tickets and went to eat nearby. And guess what? My food was served by a robot. Only in Japan. Thank you, robot. Now, I’m telling you, Japan is in the future. But let’s see what we got here. We got a plate of steak. We got an egg, some rice. We’re in Japan. We’re using the chopsticks power, you know. Let’s see what the beef is like. It seems like I trained my whole life for this using the chopsticks. Now, it was time to board the ferry, and it was fancy as hell. I got a VIP cabin, of course, that cost me $150. Oh. Oh, all right. I mean, it’s a single room because the king, queen’s beds, whatever, there was no any any rooms left. So, we have a single bed. We have a nice TV. We have some AC here and a toilet. It’s going to be fancy, bro. This is so nice. Come on. I’m in a ferry, bro. I’m in a ferry. This is super nice. Toured around the ship. There’s a bath. So, there’s an onen inside the ferry. That’s so cool. That’s the observation deck. Let’s check it out. Oh, that’s it. It’s so small. Thought it’s going to be bigger. There’s another observation deck. Maybe it’s bigger. I don’t know. It’s still a similar size. All right, we’re finally leaving. [Music] [Laughter] Bye-bye. They’re waving to us down there. Ah, Japanese people are pretty fun. Grabbed some snacks and a beer and called it a night. Morning came and I finally arrived in Beu, one of Japan’s top vacation spots. The city has over 2,000 hot springs, the most in the entire world, which is why it’s called the onen capital of Japan. and the world. Say goodbye to Sunflower. Bye-bye, Sunflower. That’s a really huge ass ferry. I’ve never been on a ferry like that, let alone a ship like that. Probably never. It was 7:00 a.m. So, first things first, I grabbed some snacks to start the day. Teriyaki and egg sandwich. This is it. Then you find a little corner like this, and you enjoy your convenience store coffee. And look at that. The sandwich is literally overflowing as fresh as it gets. Wow. Now, here’s the plan. To unlock my hotel, I had to complete the seven hells of Beu. Seven unique hot springs spread across the city, each with its own theme. One even has crocodiles. But before that, I had to try the craziest sauna ever seen where you literally get buried in hot sand. For some reason, they didn’t let me film being buried, but they let me record others. So, here’s what happens. You lie down and the staff covers you with piles of hot sand. The sand stays warm because of hot spring water flows underneath it every hour. It’s a strange feeling. Hot, heavy, but relaxing at the same time. And after about 15 minutes, you shake it off and feel refreshed. Now it’s time to begin the seven hells of Beu and unlock my $400 hotel. I hopped on a bus to the first two hells, the red one, which looked awesome. This is where the demons are born. But basically, the red color is because of the clay that’s underground. And it’s 78 degrees C. Looks pretty cool. I would love to jump in. Probably boil in a few seconds, but still cool. Chino. Another one that shoots out the gazer like a volcano. At each spot, you collect samps. So, of course, I was able to get them all. I decided to walk to the next ones. And on the way, I found some cool local snacks. Well, not that local. It’s uh Well, just just check it out. You’re from Sri Lanka? From Sri Lanka. Ah, where Columbbo? No. Candy. Candy. Ah, in the center. So, what do you have here? Can I get one dal with two paratha and one chai? Uh, if do you have a seat? Yes. else. Take a seat. Thank you so much, boss. We’re going to get a taste of Sri Lanka here in Japan. I actually miss the chai, the Indian chai, the Bangladeshi, the Pakistani chai. I used to drink it almost every day when it was that region of the world. And then you’re kind of like ripped out of it. It’s like quitting smoking because that substance is addicting af. How long have you been in Japan? 4 month. Ah, 4 months. Yeah. My boss here. And you go back to Sri Lanka? No. No. How new? Ah, you stay here. Yeah. Oh, nice. So, your boss also from Sri Lanka? Yeah, Sri Lanka. Ah, you go to different places? Yeah, sometimes. Most of the time stay here. Okay. Every day here. Every day here. Oh, what’s your name? Mohamad Faal. Mohamad Faal. Nice to meet you. My name is Matt. How you say thank you in Sri Lankan? Mohamad Stuti. Bahamas Tuti. Thank you. Some Sri Lankan magic in Japan. So dah is basically it’s like a curry. You can have a lot of things inside. I ate this every day when I was in Sri Lanka. So there was this restaurant where I was living. I was living in Vagama. I was learning how to serve every day. There was a restaurant. You paid $4 for a buffet and you could have this as much as you want. So I would just [Β __Β ] grind it out and have some shrianga chai. Just as I remember. So how much boss? 900. 900. Yeah. It’s okay. Keep the change. Thank you. Okay. Thank you. Okay, we full. Adventure now begins. A 40-minute walk. After walking through some quiet Japanese streets, I grabbed a drink from one of those legendary vending machines. Like seriously, they’re everywhere. Here we go. And each vending machine in Japan has two type of drinks. One is hot, another one is cold. So, all of these are cold. It’s grapefruit water. Super good. Like 20 more minutes to go. Everywhere you go, a lot of the houses literally have smoke coming out. And there’s only two explanations. Either there’s a hot spring underneath and there’s an onen and the steam is coming out or someone is hot boxing really hard in the houses. And I even think that someone is cooking something here. Oh, it might still be a nonsense. So cool. There’s even steam coming out of the gates right here. This town is crazy. I’ve never seen anything like this in my life. Okay. And this is the third hell, Shiraik Jigoku. I think this is like just a some kind of green hotspring. And the third hell was very beautiful. Pretty cool. Oh, I think that’s a line to get the stamps. Of course, we have to collect all the seven stamps. The Chirik Jigoku stamp. All right. And this is the fourth hell. I think this going to be the craziest one because it’s called Crocodile Park. So, apparently inside there’s crocodiles and they are like somehow grown because of the heat and steam of the hotspring. So, that’s crazy. I’m just waiting for like a crocodile to jump out of the smoke and just bite. But I don’t see any crocodiles. I’ll get the stamp right now. The fourth stamp. Okay, the fourth stamp. Little crocodile. Amazing. Oh my god. Is that like the biggest one that was here? More than 4 m. It’s crazy. But then came the crocodile one. wild and a bit sad to see I guess because all of the crocodiles are just being you know born in some hot onen kind of like I don’t know there’s like one two three four five oh there’s one down there six oh my god he’s literally massive on the way to the fif hell I found something amazing locals cook food using hot spring steam I bought some corn from the lady and it tasted incredible Wow. This is how you use nature to your advantage. You cook food and you get 10 out of 10 food. Damn. All right, let’s skip for the rest. I got all of the stamps and it was time for the moment you’ve all been waiting for. My $400 Rioan hotel with a private onen bath and a full Kaiski style dinner with way too much sashimi. This is the most I ever paid for a hotel. This has to be good. Take off my shoes. Now we can get into one of these slippers. Look at that. Okay. Men, women separate. Separate. Yeah. Until 900 a.m. 9:00 a.m. Okay. All night. Okay. All night. Wow. Public bath all night. Crazy. This is so This is so Okay. Let’s try one so this water. Water. And this is so Okay. Okay. Wow. Okay. Wow. It’s the strongest sou I ever drank. [Music] Okay. Wow. Uh-huh. Okay. Large small set means yucata. Yucata. Okay. Size mu. Size mu. Okay. You maybe m maybe extra. Really? Maybe Japanese extra. Yeah. I take. Okay. Okay. Bathroom. Bathroom. Okay. So, at 6:30, the hotel staff is going to come and they’re going to prepare a bed. Wow. Okay. Okay. Okay. Oh my god. I literally had like, you know, shivers going for him. My body, everything was so nice. He’s such a nice old man. He just showed me around. Everything is so kind of with style. If you will watch the video, you’re going to notice how he’s doing everything. Oh, okay. Okay. Thank you very much. Thank you. Wow. So, this is the XL size Yucata because I guess by Japanese standards I’m an XL. I wouldn’t say so, but I guess so. We’re going to put this on now and go check out the onen the first one and then we’re going to go for the other one at night. [Music] We are ready for the bath. I just need to put on my bath socks real quick. What is this separation? It’s the first time I’m wearing socks like this, but now I feel like a real samurai. All right, enough. Let’s go. Dang, I kind of like this bit. I like this bit on shoes. Oh, okay. This is why this is like this, you know, for on the slippers. Right now, we’re going to check my hotel’s private bath that’s outside. Get this little note so people would know that it’s taken. Ah, I forgot my onsent bag. This is it. This is the one I was looking for. Ah, this is the sign. The sign to the private bird. Oh, they’re even making the food right here. It says, “Please watch a video how to experience Jigoki Mushi.” Okay. Oh, it’s for how to make the food. So, I can make it myself. I can go buy eggs and cook it here. Occupy. Oh, it says, “Please mix well before entering the hotring.” What am I supposed to mix well? Please stir the water thoroughly before bathing. Before stepping into the bathtub, rinse your body with hot water as the bath is used by many people. Please clean yourself before entering. Oh, okay. Okay. Okay. Right. So, the proper way to enjoy a bath is, of course, while being naked. I’m not going to take off my trunks because there’s my editors watching. I don’t want them to be traumatized for life. So, I’ll go inside naked when um I finish the video. If anyone is like an onen master, this is probably a super interesting video to watch because I have no idea what how to do this. So, it’s probably super funny for someone that knows how to do this. But says, “Before stepping into the bathtub, rinse your body with hot water.” Oh, so I just take it from here and then raise it. Okay. So, I guess you use the hot water This is hot. It’s hot though. Oh my. Wow. Super hot. But it’s nice because I wash myself with a hot water. So it’s not like that instant heat. [Music] Oh, it’s like melting inside the water. It’s so warm and nice. The onen was unreal. Relaxing, peaceful, and it’s just pure Japan. Now you’ve seen how it’s done, I’m going to go in the proper way that is naked to enjoy it fully. Bye. And to make things even more fun, I decided to cook an egg using the onen steam. Check this out. So, we take the egg carefully and put it in a basket. Next, we have to put it inside the steamer. Then, we close the lid for 10 minutes because that’s how long the eggs are supposed to cook for, right? And you leave these parts open. Let’s wait 10 minutes and see what’s up here. So, you can cook stuff uh right here. And yeah, I’m just cooking one egg. I just want to see how it goes. Oh my goodness. Yeah, but this is like natural steam coming from here. Oh, this is one of those steam areas. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, the hotel that I’m staying here, it provides this. I’m just doing it for fun. Just want to get open. Get a picture of you. Your English is really good. Oh, thank you. Germany. No, I’m from Lithuania. Oh, Lithuania. I thought it was German. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I guess the accent is similar. Did you buy the anchor? Yeah. Yeah. I bought it from Lawson. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I saw the lady up at the very top of the road. Yeah. And she had corn. Right. Right. Right. So, I tried it as well. Did you drive? Oh, yeah. It’s actually pretty interesting because I thought it’s going to taste the same, but because of the steam, I think uh contains the humidity maybe and it becomes like very um soft, very juicy, you know. Yeah, this is like one of the ones of the hotel. There’s one here and there’s one like private upstairs and a public one for all the nights. I’ve never seen anything like this in my life. I guess they have this in the US, Yellowstone. I don’t know if you ever been. Oh, yeah. I’ve been to Yellowstone. They have sort of the same big park and yeah, they totally embraced it and Right. Right. Right. All right. Living it. No, this is something else. But yeah, nice to meet you guys. Yeah, nice to meet you. Enjoy your day. Right. So, 9 minutes have passed. Let’s see if the egg is done. Right. Look at this beautiful egg. Should be perfect. Right. The Well, it is perfect. As you can see, it’s like jiggly. I didn’t want it well done. That’s a perfect egg. I managed to cook the egg, but I kind of failed to eat it. And finally, it was time for the real dinner, not the egg that I cooked just now. Wow, this is fancy. Look at the privacy that people are having. Cloudy sake. Wow. Okay, this is like the best hospitality I ever received in a hotel. Western hotels should learn from this. Okay, let’s try the sake. [Music] All right, we have the sesame tofu. It’s so slippery. We have the pickled mushroom. That’s actually nice. I didn’t know you can pickle mushroom. We have the carrot castella cake. Wow. What the hell? Wow, I just got a ship of sushimi. Literally a ship. I never seen anything like this. [Music] I’m so lucky to have this. Wow. So, we also got a plate of various steamed foods. It’s an egg, potato, shrimp, I don’t know what else. We got an eggplant with some chicken. [Music] [Music] It’s like a snail or something. Fried food. So guys, we have the meat right here. This is the beef. Look at the marbling here. And I’m supposed to cook it. Like I’m really speechless. Like I’m out of words. What’s happening? Like I’ve never experienced anything like this. So the meat literally melts in your mouth. Well, Japanese be living a good life. I mean, I never tasted anything like this in my life. All right, so the hot pot is on. Apparently, I’m supposed to break in the egg right here. I’m supposed to whisk it. So, I’m supposed to dip this this here and then eat it. All right. Maybe I can try to eat it now. I’m not really sure when it’s supposed to be cooked, but it seems that the meat cooked slightly. Let’s try to dip it in. Kind of has this like egg after taste, but then you taste the soft pulley meat. It’s really good. Just not sure what’s with the dipping, but somehow it tastes really good. I mean, the soup is seasoned well each bite. It actually has flavor even if you’re eating the mushrooms and stuff. Okay, for the grand finale, we got the dessert. It’s tea chiffon cake. No idea what chiffon is. And we have green tea. I mean, this was an amazing meal. Probably one of the best meals I ever had in my life. I mean the variety you had like sashimi, you had grilled food, like premium meat, you had a hot pot, you had like steamed food, you had fried food. I mean this is everything you would want from a good good meal. Now you also have like this kind of a cake kind of like a spongy cake. It’s not bad. This man is happy. All right now it’s 20 minutes before my onsent so I have to get going actually get ready for the bath. All right. So, my bed is supposed to be ready already. Let’s see how it looks like. Wow. So, this is where I’m going to be sleeping. Literally on the ground. This is Japanese style, right? You sleep on the ground. I mean, I don’t mind. I literally can sleep anywhere. But I’m here to experience real Japan. So, here you go. This is how the real Japanese sleep. It’s time for the private onen open air bath with sea view. Wow, look at this view. That’s literally insane. And I’m getting a whole private bath for myself for an hour. [Music] Oh, boys and girls, this was the $1,000 Japan experience. Thank you for watching. Keep exploring and until next time.
I spent over $1,000 on the ultimate VIP vacation in Japan β from a $300 sushi omakase to a $400 luxury ryokan with a private hot spring bath. I took Japanβs legendary bullet train, a $150 VIP ferry, and explored the onsen capital of the world β Beppu, home to over 2,000 hot springs.
In this video, Iβll show you what luxury in Japan really feels like β from eating dishes I couldnβt even name, to bathing in natural hot sand saunas, and cooking food using the steam of the Earth itself.
