Japan Tour Guide 2025 | A-Z India to Japan Trip Plan, Visa, 10-14 Days Itinerary & Budget Hindi
Japan is a place that has always been very aspirational among Indians. If you ask any Indian about his dream foreign destination, chances are that Switzerland and Japan will always be top choice. And why not? Japan is a tech-forward society, the culture and beauty of this place is a different charm. And at this time, it is providing options to Indians in every budget. So come with me to plan your Land of the Rising Sun, Japan’s dream journey. Come on, let’s go! In Japan, you will get to enjoy four distinct seasons, namely Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. If you want to know the best time of the year, then I would say it should be in Spring. When it comes from March to May, the weather is also very good. And it’s also the cherry blossom season. But remember, this is the most expensive time of the year to go. Apart from this, Autumn falls from September to November. This is also a shoulder season. The weather is very good and the prices are also reasonable. If you like cold weather, then Winter falls from December to Feb. You get to enjoy snowfall at different places. And one of the most cheapest season but a little difficult season is the month of June to August, which is called Summer. Where you will get to experience a lot of heat with humidity. But chances are that you will also be able to plan a Japan trip within budget because it’s low tourist season that time of the year. So to go to Japan, we have to apply for a visa. We don’t have any visa on arrival facility right now. And of course, rightfully so. So if you are going to Japan, then as you can see on the screen, you will definitely find this list of documentation. This is non-negotiable. Now there are multiple ways to apply. And the cheapest way is going to the Japanese Embassy. If you have an official fee of Rs. 500 in your city, and you get your visa within 3-7 working days. You can also apply through VFS, which is their official partner for application. And it is available in every city. So the Japanese Embassy fee plus VFS fee is around Rs. 1300-1400. I applied through an agency in Mumbai because I didn’t want to run around. So I opted to do everything in one place. They arranged my dummy flight ticket booking as well as hotel stays for a fee. And in total, I spent around Rs. 3500. Processing time is the same. You get it in 5-7 working days. And you get your visa depending on your profile. Anywhere between 15 days to 5 years, depending on your luck. If you want to know the full information about the step-by-step application process of a visa, I have made a separate video on the i-button above. You can watch it. Or you can scan the QR code and watch it after this video. The most important component of any Japan trip is getting the flight at the right price at the right time. So if you want to go to Japan, I would suggest you land in either Tokyo or Osaka from India. Because they are major airports, and the connectivity is also good from there. Your trip will most likely start and end from these two destinations. So for this, whenever you are planning, and as you can see on the screen, I am showing you the pricing of Cherry Blossom season which starts in March. So if you are flying from Delhi airport in North India, you are lucky. You are getting multiple airlines which have direct flights over there. Like JAL, ANA, as well as Air India. You will get direct flights anywhere between Rs 50,000 to Rs 53,000. Which is a great proposition for going to Japan. You will save a lot of time. Because as you know, the distance is quite a bit. Same thing, if you are going from other cities, then I will tell you that you will get single-haul flights. So opt for full-service airlines like Singapore Airlines, Air India, Cathay Pacific. Then your life will be very easy because you will get meal, baggage allowance, all these things. The flight price again for that would be anywhere between Rs 45,000 to Rs 50,000. One thing I would like to say is, do not opt for extreme budget carriers like Air Asia or VHF. You will need multiple halts in that. It will take 20 plus hours. No food, no water. Baggage is chargeable. And all these things will put you in a problem. It will increase your headache. So whenever you are flying to Japan, I would suggest that take a direct flight or a single-haul flight with the same P&R to make your life easy. So now let’s talk about the immigration process in Japan. The immigration process in Japan is very smooth. And to a large extent, it is very easy because it is digital. So when you are preparing to go to Japan, when you are doing the web check-in, at the same time, I will tell you to go to the Visit Japan web and fill their digital arrival card. By the way, this is not mandatory. You can fill it there even after coming. But there is a lot of crowd there. So it is better to do it beforehand. It is a very simple form. You have to fill in the details of your visa or e-visa in your passport. Along with that, you have to answer the small questions that are asked there, the standard ones. And after that, you get your digital arrival card whose QR code you have to keep on your phone. Show it on immigration and everything is done. The same thing is there physically. So you don’t really have to worry if you have not filled it during that time. And as far as immigration is concerned, I was not asked anything. Neither return ticket, how many days have you come, or where is your stay, where are you going, nothing. They just saw my passport, saw my visa, whatever it was, they put their stamp, put a sticker, and it was a very easy immigration process into Japan. Now let’s talk about Japanese currency. The name of Japan’s currency is the Yen. And you can see its exchange rate on the screen now. It is quite economical. By the way, in Japan, I will tell you that your expenses are not going to be high. But you are going to need currency because Japan is still a very cash-based economy. Yes, you get credit cards, debit cards, and forex cards at major stores. But still, in most of the places, they will ask for cash. So now if you want to take cash, Yen is easily available in India. If you don’t get Yen, you can take it on US dollars. Now if you take US dollars, there are two options to exchange there. One is the digital machine that you will find at airports and convenience stores, which I will tell you to avoid because their exchange rates will put you at a loss. The physical store, their availability is less, but you get it, if you google it, you will get good rates of US dollars in exchange for Japanese Yen. Now when I went there, I used a mix of credit cards and forex cards. In my HDFC multi-platinum currency forex card, I loaded money directly in Japanese Yen. So I didn’t face much loss. Because when I was going to any ATM to withdraw money, I was getting the direct Yen that I had filled in and ATM withdrawal fees were being charged. Now as far as ATMs and withdrawal fees are concerned, I will tell you that you won’t get it like in India. You will have to go to a store like 7-11, Family Mart, Lawson, where you will have to use the machine. Every 10,000 Yen has a withdrawal charge of 110 Yen. And the currency that your bank will charge extra is different. Stays In Japan, this will be the most expensive component after your flight. In Japan, for some reason, the rooms are also very small compared to other places. And it’s also quite expensive. If you stay in a hostel, hotel, mid-range or luxury, you are expecting a fair amount of cost every day. I can’t tell you the prices now because it’s very subjective depending on what you have. But if you go to the same hostel in the summer, it will be cheaper. It will cost you Rs 3,000 per night with breakfast. That hostel will cost you Rs 4,500 in the peak season. Rooms anywhere between the budget category can cost you Rs 7,000-8,000 per night. And luxury hotels will cost you Rs 10,000-12,000. For making your life easy, where you can stay, I will show you the budget on the screen. If you are going to Tokyo, you have budget options like this. If you want to stay in a less budget, you can stay near Asakusa. If you have a mid-budget, you can go near Shinjuku. If you have a higher budget, you can go to Ginza. You can take screenshots of all these places. I am showing you the option of Osaka on the screen. You can take screenshots accordingly. In Osaka, you will get a room at a lower price than in Tokyo. Because in your Japan trip, you are going to stay in two places as a base. Which is Tokyo and Osaka. As a couple or family, if you get a room for Rs 7,000-8,000, it is a very good option. Because the rooms are clean and you also get breakfast included in Japan. So it is not a bad proposition. Which will help you keep your budget in control on your trip to Japan. Before going to the itinerary, let’s talk about whether you should do a self-planned trip or a package trip. Well, the answer to this is both simple and complicated. Because Japan is a place which is very different from its regular contact countries like Southeast Asia. If you are a seasoned traveller, it will be easy for you to self-land in Japan. So I will tell you that if you want to book activities and day trips, you can book through Klook. You will get a QR code in front of every activity. All you have to do is scan it or visit the link in the description and use my code. Let’s go to get a 10% discount on all your purchases. You can also book a hotel room from there and you will get an equal amount of discounts. However, a lot of people prefer to go to the package store because they prefer everything to be handled from one point. Because there are kids, elderly, a large group of people with food preferences and varied choices. So if you want to do all that, then the package store is the best. And for that, my personal recommendation based on my last two trips with them is Trotoli. Trotoli’s full format is Travel2Live. It’s a Mumbai-based company whose Google ratings are also very high and it has been present in the market for a long time. They operate pan India. All you have to do is just tell their app, which is AI enabled, where you have to go, how many days you have to go and what kind of trip you want. So according to your budget, everything with your flight, it will help you out. And they even have visa services. So if you are going to a large group, you will also get your visa from one point. You can choose according to your budget. There is a QR code on the screen or a link in the description. You can contact them from there and you can give my reference to get even better deals over there. So Japan’s itinerary, ideally, I would say Indians mostly plan for 8 to 9 days. And even in this, you will have two main hub points. One is Tokyo and the other is Osaka. Either you start from Tokyo and finish from Tokyo or start from Osaka or Tokyo and finish at either or places. Flights are available from both places for India. So you don’t have to worry about it. Otherwise, you will have an extra expense of 1 lakh to come and go. So now as far as the itinerary is, I will tell you that in the first half, if you are going to Tokyo, then you keep 3 to 4 days on the pass. Because there are a lot of things to do there. Now if you go to Tokyo, then you can do one day only for the city tour. There it will take you to different neighborhoods. It will take you to Tokyo Skytree. All these things you get to roam around there very well. So either you can do it by yourself as you can see the locations on the screen now. Or you can opt for a day trip by scanning the QR code and using my code, let’s go on checkout. You can also include the same thing in the package and take it. Apart from this, you have to do a day trip there. Which is your trip to Mount Fuji and Hakone. This is a very good trip. I will tell you, don’t make a separate bullet train arrangement for this. It will be more expensive than booking a day trip. People think that bullet trains will be very cheap in Japan. It is not like that. They can be quite expensive. And as I will show you later, in your entire trip, you will have to do only 3 trips of bullet train to keep your trip in budget. So if you are going to Mount Fuji and Hakone in any season, then it makes sense to do a day trip. It’s like a full day thing. It stays from 8 am to 6-7 pm. In which all your transfers, pickup drops, as well as entry fees with your meals are included. So it makes your life a lot more easy. So you get to see all these places there. If you are going to Tokyo, then you should definitely visit Disneyland there. Of course, I didn’t do this trip because I had visited Disneyland in Hong Kong. I had gone to Universal Studios in Osaka. But a lot of people whose bucket list is Tokyo, Disneyland or DisneySea. And their ticket prices are also quite economical. It starts from 6,000 to 7,000. And it’s a full day worth of activity. Next comes, one day I will tell you to keep it free in Tokyo. Because there are so many places here to shop. I don’t think you will be able to do it in a day. Because I wasn’t able to do it in a day. Ginza district has so many places to shop. It has the world’s biggest Uniqlo store. Onitsuka Tiger store. Every type of possible luxury goods store. Everything under the sun that you can imagine. You can go to Akihabara if you are an anime fan. If you want to buy electronics, there are stores everywhere. If you go to Big Camera, you will get all the electronics you want. There is a store called Donki. There you will get all types of unique Japanese food items. So basically everything under the sun that you can imagine. You can shop there. And do not forget to carry a passport while you are doing shopping. Because you will get a 10% tourist discount there. Which is their taxes. So you are even saving more money when you are shopping in Japan. The trip to Japan does not pick up in reality until you reach Osaka. Because Tokyo is a big mega city. Yes, if you want to do anime shopping, then it is good. But Osaka is where the true Japan starts from. So when you go to Osaka, I would say for at least 4 days. Even if you keep one more day additional, there is no loss. So when you reach Osaka first. You can go to all places from here by making it the base. So keep one day in Osaka just for like a city tour. There are a lot of things to see in Osaka. So I will tell you to take a hop-on hop-off bus. It will be very good for you. In which basically if you want to do 2-3 days according to you. You can cover all the tourist places. And 3-6 attractions are also added to it. And when you go to Osaka for a day trip. You have to do the shrines and temples. And apart from that, if you want to enjoy the nightlife. Then go to Dotonbori. Apart from this, there are 2-3 unique activities there. Like Osaka’s flyer, the wheel. You can do that. There I did one thing personally. Which was unique and I liked it very much. Was the Santa Maria cruise. It was very good. Along with that, you can go to Umeda Sky Building. Which is like one of the tallest buildings in Osaka. Like you get a panoramic view of the whole city. And it was a great experience. If you want to book all these things. Then through this QR code. You can book a multi-day pass. Which is the Have Fun in Kansai pass. In which your bullet train transfer. And one train ticket to the airport is also included. Along with that, whatever you want to travel in the local train. That is also unlimited. Through this, 3-6 activities are also added. And this Osaka or the places around it. When you are exploring. According to that, it offers great value for money. Which in 3-4 or 5 days. You can get it completely. One day when you will be in Osaka. Then I will tell you. Then you have to do the Kyoto-Nara day trip. Everybody knows what Kyoto and Nara is. In Nara, there is Deer Park. And in Kyoto, there is the 1000 gates shrine. So for that, you can do a day trip. There is no need to take a bullet train. You can plan it very easily. In the morning, they will pick you up. And in the evening, they will take you around. Including the Lake Ashi trip. After doing all that, they will drop you at your spot. It was a very good trip. Complete value for money. I liked it very much. Its extended video is also on my channel. You can definitely check it out. To know the experience of that date. In Osaka, one more activity that you should do. If you have not been to Tokyo Disneyland. Then it is adding the Universal Studios. It was a very fun experience for me. Universal Studios had more rides which they had added. And I also got the opportunity to stay at the Universal City. Which is a hotel there. Which was fantastic. It was just a minute’s walking distance away. It is very good. The metro station is nearby. And it is a very nice complex. So that is also a good value for money. A lot of people take Osaka’s trip with Hiroshima. Because it is like a short day trip. Or you can stay for a night if you want. It is a very nice place. Because we have read about its history. The devastation that happened. But the way they have transformed that city. Was really heartwarming. I stayed there for a night. Explored it very well. It was a lot of fun. And if you are not even staying there. You can do a day trip. So plan accordingly. QR code is here. You will be the best judge of it. But definitely add Hiroshima in your trip. Because it is totally worth it. In that also your bullet train journey. Which is near Kansai. You will get it through that. So you get to experience that too. Transport options in Japan. This is a very complicated but non complicated thing. Because it can be very overwhelming and confusing. When you reach there for the first time. Or on the first day. Even I had done it. Despite travelling so much. So because Dr Yatri and Ajay Pandey were there with me. They guided me. So I am giving you the proper information. I am giving it in a condensed form. I have made a full length video. Watch it on iButton. You will get the whole idea in 10-11 minutes. But however I am giving you the basics of Japan travel. Taxis. You have to avoid them. Because taxis are very expensive in Japan. You have to go through Uber app. Or you have to ask for a normal taxi. It depends on the meter. And short distances. Means you have to go anywhere. You will have to spend 1500-2000 Rs. For 2-3 km. Buses are also not that great connectivity locally in Japan. But you get it everywhere. So there is no such problem. But the most preferred option of travel over there. Is the metro train. Metro trains have a good network. You just have to type in Google Maps and it will show you the route, where to get off, where to get off, where to exchange, etc. And to go there, I will tell you every time, don’t buy a ticket in cash. Buy an ICO card. This is an ICO card and also a Suica card. This is available everywhere in Japan. You only get the option to top up in cash, but if you go everywhere and just tap, then your balance will be deducted. Makes your life easy. This is available everywhere on bus, train, etc. You can even use it to pay for food in restaurants. Next is the world-famous and legendary bullet train. Many people want to buy a JR pass, but I will tell you that it will not be so beneficial for you because it is super expensive. And if you are thinking of taking a train around 10-12 bars, which is not going to happen, then this JR pass will be beneficial for you. Otherwise, I will tell you that every time you are going, you can book online through Klook. You can use the ticket according to your choice. There is a QR code on the phone, just scan it and you will get the entry. You can also buy a ticket from the machine, but you will have to pay through card or cash. So, you will be losing valuable foreign exchange. So, if you are booking through Klook, you can do whatever you want. Plus, if you use my code, you will get discounts of 10% in the train ticket for every Rs. 10,000. So, you can do it according to your choice. A big advantage is that you are paying in Indian Rupees. And up to 1 hour in advance, you can change the timing of the train for whatever time you want. And if there is a cancellation, you will get a refund in your account. For more information on this, scan the QR code on the video above. You will get all the information about travel planning in Japan. Now, let me tell you about the internet availability in Japan. So, basically, when you go to Japan, you will get a sim card machine from the airport. You can buy a sim card according to your choice. But I travel a lot, so I have come to know that it is better to buy an eSIM from India and download it on your phone. So, I bought my eSIM from Klook. You get different eSIMs at different price points. So, you can choose according to your choice. In fact, there are many companies in the market today. So, you can opt for anything and they will give you good service. Whether you want to buy from Klook or not, that is for later. Okay, now let’s talk about the food arrangements. The good thing in Japan is that you have a lot of options for food. Now, you can find whatever your preference is. If you want to eat food from 7-Eleven, then you will get it for Rs. 300-400 per meal. If you are going to a restaurant in local Japanese, then you will get a good meal for Rs. 700-800. The portion sizes in Japan are very good. So, one person gets to eat very well. When it comes to Indian food, you are going to be extremely happy because you get good quality Indian food everywhere in Japan. And the best part is that it is as equal priced as local food because the locals there also prefer Indian food every now and then. So, according to me, you will get good food for Rs. 600-700. I enjoyed Indian food along with the local food. So, all in all, according to your preference, I would say that you will get good food for Rs. 600-800 per meal. So, in this video on budgeting, I am telling you that I am giving you a flight. I am also giving you the expenses of the visa and all the activities that you can see on the screen. So, if you are a single traveler, if you are going as a couple or a group of 4 or more, then this is the pricing. And according to me, if you are doing a package tour or if you are doing it individually, it is roughly the same. There can be a 5% difference. So, according to this, I would say that on the lower side of the spectrum, an individual traveler can work for Rs. 1.5 lakh. And if you are going as a couple, I would say that for a comfortable trip, if you keep it at Rs. 170-180 per person, then you will have a very good trip. Same thing goes for families as well. According to your budget, you can do more or less. If you want to do a package trip, then you can do it by contacting Trotoli. So, roughly, this is your budget for your Japan trip. So, this was the whole video, guys. I hope you liked this video. I have spent 14 days in Japan. So, I have done a very extensive series. And you will get to see all the videos in the playlist section of Japan. And if you liked the video, then please don’t forget to like this video, share it with your family and friends, and do not forget to subscribe to the channel. Till then, see you soon in the next video series. Stay safe. Travelling Banda, out!

I have been liking your this particular type of videos where you breakdown everything for a particular country. This is quite helpful for a traveler as they can get all necessary info from a single video. In fact, your videos have helped me a lot for my trips to Kazakhstan, Macau, Philippines and so on. Thanks a lot and keep sharing such informative videos. Just one suggestion. There are tons of videos on YouTube for countries of Asia and Middle-East. So, it would be really exciting if you get the chance to cover something similar from African regions. Thanks again.
