Summer in Japan 🇯🇵 | Oshino Hakkai–The Most Beautiful Village near Mt. Fuji with Magical Blue Ponds
Hello everyone! After leaving Tokyo, we arrived at Oshino Hakkai, located at the foot of Mount Fuji. It takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes to travel from Tokyo to Oshino Hakkai After getting off the bus, we walked for a few minutes to reach the village. Along the walking path, there’s a clear stream flowing with spring water from Mount Fuji’s underground aquifer. We came across a charming scene of waterwheels and thatched-roof houses, beautifully blending with the natural surroundings. Oshino Hakkai consists of eight ponds, all filled with crystal-clear water formed from melted snow from Mount Fuji that has been naturally filtered through layers of earth over many years. Visitors can clearly see the stones and fish at the bottom of the ponds. The water is so pure that it’s considered sacred in Japanese culture. We also visited a local specialty shop selling seafood in sealed packs, tea, noodles, and mochi. The Nakaike Pond is the most popular among tourists. Many visitors fill their bottles with the sacred spring water, symbolically bringing home Mount Fuji’s blessing and purity. Before leaving, we couldn’t resist trying the fresh milk ice cream, a must-have treat here! Our next stop was Mount Fuji 5th Station, located at an altitude of about 2,305 meters. It’s often the starting or ending point for climbers and a great place to enjoy the spectacular view of Mount Fuji. Unfortunately, it started to rain, and the peak of Mount Fuji was hidden behind the mist. Normally, you can see the summit clearly from here. We ended the day by checking into Fujimihana Resort, where we had dinner and celebrated the birthdays of three group members born in September. Thanks for watching! See you in our next JAPAN video!
Discover the breathtaking beauty of Oshino Hakkai, a traditional Japanese village nestled at the foot of Mount Fuji. This serene spot is famous for its eight crystal-clear ponds, fed by the melted snow from Fuji’s peaks — purified through nature over many years.
Walk with us through charming thatched-roof houses, waterwheels, and peaceful ponds where visitors come to collect sacred spring water for good fortune. Then, journey up to Mount Fuji 5th Station, standing 2,305 meters above sea level, often serving as the starting point for climbers.
Even though the rain hid Fuji’s summit, the atmosphere remained magical. We ended the day with a warm stay and a birthday celebration at Fujimihana Resort.
