While Narita International Airport may be where many visitors get their first taste of Japan, the adjecent town of Narita offers an excellent window into old Japan. Just in front of Narita Station is Narita Omotesando, a winding road that leads to Shinshoji Temple. Stroll along and discover small shops selling traditional snacks, artifacts, and crafts that make excellent souvenirs. But the main attraction is most definitely Shinshoji Temple, a massive temple complex, and park that dates back over 1000 years. Its imposing structures and statues are steeped in history and draw worshippers and visitors year-round.
