The Japanese government is considering the possibility of drawing up a document on a trade agreement with the United States, as Washington is reportedly seeking to craft such a document.

The move comes as the Japanese government hopes that the US will lower tariffs on automobiles and other products in line with the deal as soon as possible.

US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has said an announcement on the trade agreement with Japan, including a 550-billion-dollar investment in the US, will be made later this week.

The Japanese government had earlier said it was not preparing an agreement document. Economic Revitalization Minister Akazawa Ryosei told reporters on Tuesday that it is the US that tends to see the benefit of drawing up such a document.

Japanese government sources say the US side is asking for a document on the deal to be produced, to ensure the implementation of the investment by Japan.

The Japanese government has been calling on the United States to issue an executive order to lower the tariffs.

The government plans to do its best to realize an early implementation of the trade deal which was reached in July. One idea floated is for Akazawa to visit the US to make arrangements.
