So today I’m in Numazu. I was visiting some friends for an early birthday celebration. Numazu is an interesting case. It was an old route on the Tokaido. It originally had two jos going back to the ado period. And then when the Tokaido railroad came through, it was a major transfer point for points west. This in Osaka Okyama as well as going for commuters to Tokyo. it. That’s a pretty wild chandelier in that. This is sort of the edge of the red light district, entertainment district, as well as some of the older places. We’re not so close to the old Tokaido road here, not so far from the railroad station, but it’s an interesting case of a town that had a lot going on. Was very important in the past, but now now that very many of the young people go to Tokyo to work, there just aren’t the opportunities here. So you get a lot of Showa style buildings like these, a lot of ruins, a lot of neat neon that isn’t really come common anymore. So it’s kind of a fun place to explore. Doesn’t take so long. It’s very quick on the Shinkansen if you go to Mishima station. You can even take a superhari and then transfer to the Tokaido and then it’s like 5 minutes. So, it’s an if you like old places, ghosts, it’s uh it’s a good place for that. They’re cleaning up for for later. I like the rest of this building coming up. There’s a neon not too far from here. Try not to bother them. You never know who you’re going to offend. But this is definitely old style Japanese show nightclub culture. This is what old guys tend to go for. I don’t know how many young people go to these places. Old guys in their 50s and 60s frequent these joints. So, I love that papa neon over there. The variety of colors and architectural styles, I think, is just really, really cool. You can see those are pretty old style buildings, maybe older. Numazoo’s had some pretty serious fires that destroyed everything. Like in the 1920s, 1926, they had to rebuild. So, a lot of the original cityscape no longer exists. I’m going to be really illegal right now. The train stations off to the left, but I had to explore this part, too. This is still part of the basically the red light entertainment district, the bars, the host clubs. Yeah, I love that sign though. Isn’t that amazing? So anyway, this is a short flavor of Numazu. I may give a little bit more too on the next video. Let me know if you have any comments or questions. Thanks a lot.
