Summer in Japan’s seaside town #Onomichi | Cat Alley, Local Cafes & Hidden Temples| Japan VLOG
hi everyone, today we’re on our way to Onomichi which is another seaside town in Hiroshima so many people recommended for me to visit this town and I can already see why the town looks so picturesque with the views of the hills and the sea I just dropped my luggage off at the hotel so let’s go explore the town! first we’re headed up the hills where many cafes and shops are tucked away among the residential areas all these houses look like they’re straight out of a Ghibli film it was quite a maze to find the bakery I wanted to visit but finally found it this is the most tiny bakery I’ve ever seen only one person can fit in at a time I got the pizza bread and scone and there it a small sitting area outback this is our lunch spot for today the bread was also delicious 🙂 there’s so many cute stores hidden away in this area this is a handmade ceramics store you can find so many unique pieces time for some coffee I just saw signs for a cafe so decided to check it out got an ice latte the coffee was really rich and smooth look who decided to join us apparently this cat comes by the cafe often came to say goodbye let’s head the the next stop I think I could wonder around these streets for hours but a lot of the shops look like they’ve been abandoned at the end of the alley there is also a cat shrine this is a unmanned shrine dedicated to cats you can draw cat-themed omikuji (fortunes) although this this area is called a “cat power spot” encountering real cats depends on timing and luck but I think I just made it in nap time definitely a must visit for all cat lovers the cat alley ends right at the halfway point of the hill I decided to walk the rest of the way up which only took about 15 minutes and you can see the whole city from here sound of summer this temple also sits right at the top of the hill you can head up to the observatory from here here you can get this stunning panoramic view of Onomichi and the Seto Inland Sea. decided to take the cable car down back in the main port area the town has such a nostalgic feel we’re going to spend the next 2 days here I don’t have many plans but want to stroll around and enjoy the town this is my hotel for the stay I choose this hotel for it’s view time for some dinner we’re going to try Onomichi’s famous ramen this place had really good reviews and was famous for this wonton noodle they also had vegetarian options 🙂 the noodles were amazing, would totally recommend this place and the sun was setting on the way back to the hotel the town has such a calm atmosphere I thought the city would be a lot more busy but it was quite empty the hotel also had a nice rooftop view point this is a famous ice cream shop in Onomichi popular for their Ice Monaka (a wafer ice cream sandwich) the shop is right across from the pier and they have a little seat you can enjoy the ice cream the ice cream is unique because it’s made with a lot of eggs the wafers is also super crispy and delicious this shopping street has a mix of everything from clothes to kitchenware and pottery how cute is this giant sweater? found so many cute second hand plate stores this was one of my favourite stores they had so many cute items a lot of which were cat themed even had a cat stopper for your cup noodles definitely stop by if you’re in the area time for some breakfast and coffee this is a retro-styled Japanese kissaten with this Showa style interior serving up their speciality siphon coffee which is this unique brewing method resulting in a stronger flavour the coffee tasted strong but wasn’t bitter at all I also got the seafood gratin set the food was average but a decent place for breakfast headed back up the hills the local train that runs through the city is painted in a distinctive yellow colour and is associated with the “Setouchi” colouring, a regional theme there’s one shop I really wanted to visit this is a letter press and print shop you can find cards, notebooks and poster here but i’m here for there letterpress workshop today where you can make your own books and cards with the letterpress you can also customise the text and images as well as the colour the customisable workshop needed advance booking so I went with a premade design but I had a lot of fun learning about letterpress printing and I got to make my own notebook 🙂 it’s so nice to have a one of a kind souvenir this place wasn’t on my list but I was curious to see what’s inside the pâtissier explained all of the pastries got a little dessert for later there’s another cafe I want to visit on the hills it’s tucked away in this small alleyway the cafe feels like entering someone’s grandma’s house with a cool breeze flowing through the windows a little retreat from the heat it was the perfect place to relax and recharge despite the small size Onomichi has so much to offer you could probably do a day trip here but I think you need a couple of days to really appreciate the city I wanted to check out what popular souvenirs are in Onomichi of course a whole lot of cat themed products these cat figures are so cute this market had such cute Onomichi designs tonights menu is a seafood bowl this looks so good the seafood was so fresh going to enjoy my tea and the pastries I got earlier this was like a mix between a canele and croissant I also want to see which figure I got I really wanted either of these two I got the one I wanted 🙂 it’s our last day in Onomichi this was one o the cafes I wanted to visit the most the design is so cute I came 30 minutes after opening but there was already a line it took around 20 minutes to get a seat but look how cute the desserts are they also sell small handmade ceramics the cafe wasn’t too busy but quite small and only fits about 10 people too cute to eat the cookies is quite hard, but with ice cream in between, maybe that’s just right they also had some magazine you can borrow the cafe is only open Saturday to Tuesday so make sure to check before visiting another thing Onomichi is famous for is it’s temple walks which is a designated walking route connecting 25 temples the walk also leads through the narrow lanes of Onomichi’s residential areas so you can enjoy the townscape as you walk through you could easily spend a full day visiting all the temples but I’ll just be visiting a few today you can also get a great view of the city from here all them temples are in a 5-10 minute walking vicinity it’s particularly nice to visit in spring as this street is covered in cherry blossom trees at the entrance gate you can find these giant straw sandals these were offered by pilgrims for prayers dedicated to strong legs and healthy walking one last temple stop for today this one’s right at the end of the temple walk the temple has this view looking out to the sea and train line there’s a flock o pigeons that freely roam the temple grounds you can actually go around and feed them they connect back to historical use of carrier pigeons there’s another bakery I want to check out right at the port this is a renovated warehouse right by the water it is now a select store, café, and bicycle rental spot you can find so many interesting local items I think it’s a great spot if you want to bring back something unique from your trip this sounds delicious I love finding new condiments on my trip tea also seems very popular from this area olive leaf tea sounds interesting but mostly love all the cute packaging the bakery only had a few things left there are seats outside to enjoy the view I got the shrimp cutlet sandwich I still had some time before my train so I decided to do this flower pot workshop where you can paint your own cat pot you get 40 minutes to paint this was such a relaxing activity where you can just focus on painting it also dries really fast so you can take it home the same day I was so concentrated I forgot to film the rest but here’s how it turned out it’s almost time for my train grabbing one last coffee before heading off the beans here are competition grade, so I wanted to try it the coffee was amazing the barista was also really friendly and knowledgeable the barista highly recommended this bakery so I had to drop by this was the best curry pan I’ve ever had
A slow summer trip wandering through the seaside town of Onomichi. Onomichi is a nostalgic port town in Hiroshima known for its hillside temples, cats, and local charm. Many people had recommended that I visit this town, and I can totally see why! The whole town was so picturesque and looked straight out of a Ghibli film.

The day sol life stops posting is the day I'll cry
Amazing as always!
Yeyeyey happy weekend 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
One of the few gems not packed by so many tourists, YET.
Thanks for sharing the beautiful parts of Japan! Always love ❤️ Japan ! Hope to visit again next year 😊
17:04 The view of the hotel room, though 😮🤩😍
Thanx for this location, so pretty and quaint, best of all, quiet. Cant get over, twice you sat outside eating in the harbour area, where were the Seagulls looking for crumbs??
You were lucky, their day off, no screeching ! Bliss. Xx
Aku suka Susana tenangnya,, rasanya seperti dunia milik diri sendiri❤ jadi pengen kesana, vibes neko nya itu lohhh lucu,, gemess😘

I went there last year, a brief walking around after went to Hiroshima city. Wish I spent more time there! I arrived by the evening and the Senkoji Temple was closed by that time. Btw, nice serene town. Definitely going back again!

First Ponyo.. now getting Poppy Hill vibes, kinda like it's 60's Yokohama ✨ Japan has endless beauty to discover, it's incredible!
8:02 The view & music atmosphere really surprise me! Sol you are the best vlogger. Thank you for the video🍃🍀
At the beginning, the scene where the scooter and train were traveling side by side, how long did you have to wait for that moment of serendipity? That was lovely!
High skills editing! The opening seems so unreal.. OMG. Love your channel!!
