these are American foods that surprised my friends from Japan or at least what many had interest in when they come to visit me when I’m back home in the States first is often not anticipated but it would be American sushi adding jalapeno peppers avocado even sometimes cream cheese or cucumber wrappings instead of nori are for the most part methods to market sushi to countries outside of Japan and in fact are kind of difficult to find within Japan where you will mainly find more traditional negi sushi that looks more like this you can think of this as the reverse of how there are some Japanese takes on pizza that I look forward to more when I go back to the country than some sushi shops next is a souvenir actually that a lot of my friends get to bring back with them when they come to visit american candy and snacks and unfortunately this isn’t always because it’s super good more so than candy in Japan but the design especially for Western specific holidays such as Easter is pretty novel as is the intense sweetness speaking of marketing next would be In-N-Out Burger whatever they have done to make the restaurant synonymous with a Los Angeles trip has worked well but similar to pizza I have to recommend to all of you having Japan’s take on what an American burger is in Tokyo is so delicious as you can see here next would be American steak in Japan barbecue will often be more like yakiniku wagyu thinner more heavily marbled cuts of meat delicious but often best enjoyed in smaller servings taking friends from Japan to an outdoor barbecue when they visit America is always a go-to move for me but of course food opinions are always very objective so please let me know what you think America’s best foods to show people visiting would

  1. Except in Japan it is common and more popular now. Even in Taiwan, American style additions to sushi that isnt thick beef related is called Japanese. Especially cheese, avocado, etc.

  2. Best foods to show foreigners visiting America would be: A really good greasy spoon diner burger, biscuits and gravy, chicken fried steak, anything Cajun (especially jambalaya or gumbo,) real Southern fried chicken, Texas or Kansas City BBQ, and a good chili place, especially if they have chili burgers and chili dogs. Just for starters. Oh, and clam chowder!
