Our FIRST Time In Tokyo, Japan Was SHOCKING (Weirdest City Ever?)

that was chaos absolute chaos that’s not something you see in the UK this is part of the fun of it i think this is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten oh my god it’s mayhem i feel like we’re going to war 3 2 1 we have just touched down in Tokyo Japan for the very first time and I think this is the most excited we have ever been to set foot in a new country because everyone we’ve spoken to that’s been to Japan says that this is their favorite place so expectations right now are right up here all right first ATM in a brand new country is always a bit of a nerve-wracking one because if it doesn’t work you could be in for a bit of a pickle but luckily there’s a whole lounge of them right here wow like literally which one do we even go for this one you like the 7-Eleven style one yeah english i’m also really intrigued to know what the service fee is cuz it’s different in every country philippines is around £5 each time same with Thailand so I’m hoping that Japan will be pretty good what’s it looking like i think success we’ve got a lot of LEDs going on here card receipt i like that they give you the card first yes cash money we’re in business look at that how retro does that look so I’m looking at the receipt here i’m not seeing any transaction fee it’s just saying 4,000 and ATM transaction fee zero could that actually be they don’t charge a transaction fee in Japan no way all right i like this country already yeah exactly all right so we’ve now got a little over 5,800 Japanese yen which is about £30 i think that’ll be more than enough to get us started for now uh the third thing on the list now is to get a Squeaker card that’s what’s going to help us travel around Tokyo and I think it’s also like a prepaid cash card so you can use it to pay for things in shops like Family Mart or 7-Eleven look Yas is already on the snack game what you got what you got i found some lightly salted edamami snack they feel very light so I’m not sure how they’re going to taste should I try it right now i’m starving they’re so good i’m starving too it’s been a long travel day how good they’re like puffed edamami beans really salty really savory these are delicious m really good find okay enough horsing about we have a squeaker car to find i literally have no idea what we’re looking for i have no idea what we’re looking for welcome to another episode or another edition of Adam and Yas public transportation in the brand new country oh they’re literally right here how did we miss that oh is that what it is it literally says welcome squeaker all right so when you follow the signs from the trains from arrivals look for the sign that says JR and then there’ll be the machines right next to that all right so we want English adult cards select the desired charge oh okay so you can go straight to charging it up that’s good i have no idea let’s set 2,000 please insert money for credit card okay I will do all right 2,000 yen incoming that is a very smart looking metro card there okay 2,000 yen each that’s about £10 i have no idea if that’s going to be enough to get us to the center of Tokyo but we’re about to find out oh my god we are so far outside of the center of Tokyo i didn’t even realize that all right i think the one we want is Ques Mainline there’s probably people watching this from Japan or have been to Japan before absolutely screaming at us right now saying “No that’s the wrong thing to do.” We don’t know we just asked the man at the desk there and he wasn’t too sure himself so fingers crossed we come out the other end without a massive fine oh the train looks very retro i love that this is part of the fun of it let’s see where we end up 2 hours later okay I’m pretty sure that was actually the slowest way to get from Narita airport into the city i think what we should have done was get the Skyliner train that would have taken about half the time that that just did so yeah don’t make that mistake when you come to Tokyo but anyway we are actually in Tokyo that’s the main thing so that was about 1,300 yen to get us here to the Raongi district of Tokyo um actually not that bad for was a 2hour journey i think it’s like 70 km and I cannot wait to check into this hotel and see this room because Japanese hotel rooms are notorious for being compact let’s just say very small but most importantly I cannot wait to use a proper Japanese toilet we have been in Japan officially over 2 hours now and we still haven’t been outside finally oh here we are japan it’s 22° right now to tell you the truth I thought it was going to feel a lot colder than that but it really doesn’t feels really nice and breezy anything but cold pretty much and I’ve got to say the street so far suitcase friendly all right here we go appari six hotel home for the next three nights this looks incredible what i was not expecting this hotel to be like this oh they smell cute hey oh it’s actually so nice that’s not as bad as I nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be actually no that is actually really cute i like it okay so this is £60ish per night and it’s definitely a lot smaller than your average hotel room at that price point but I was expecting it to be like a coffee the way it’s decorated is so pretty we’ve got a feature wall there i’ve just noticed this TV which is huge that must be about 55 in and look at the size of this mirror with lighting the one thing we ask for in a hotel room is good lighting natural daylight because otherwise it’s so hard to wake up in the morning we’ve got a mirror here with some hooks either side some slippers at the bottom what’s that oh it’s a shoe horn they actually provide a shoe horn that’s cool and some hangers up here and oh I thought it was going to open inwards it opens outwards because of course it’s quite small so we’ve got the shower here which is basically kind of a bathtub there’s the sink and here is the office and it is a smart toilet you’ve got rear wash front wash and then you can change the pressure there no idea what any of this means i’m going to have to translate that later okay so I need to test this bed haven’t felt it yet so I don’t know what my London’s going to be like oh it’s soft that felt and sounded really fluffy oh what a relief that’s got to be one of the softest beds actually that we’ve had and just next to the bed here we’ve got this control panel an alarm clock up here and ah these are robes I think that they provide and a fridge so we’re actually quite pleasantly surprised with this room the only thing is it’s a lot later than we imagined it would be by the time we checked in so we’ve got three mega pack days here in Tokyo we’re going to go straight to bed and we’ll see you in the morning good night if you’re planning a trip around Japan but also morning ah who are we kidding it’s barely even morning anymore was coming up to 12:00 p.m but to be honest we were so so tired from that travel day yesterday we just had to have a few extra hours of sleep plus that bed was so soft and squidgy best sleep ever so cozy i almost didn’t want to get out of bed but we were way too excited obviously to explore Tokyo for the first time i think actually our excitement yesterday was a little bit tempered by how tired we were it’s only just hit me right now that we are in Tokyo this is literally a dream come true at least for me i’ve been wanting to come here for years yeah I’ve definitely been wanting to come here for a while and there’s just so many quirks here so many fun things to do there’s endless activities i literally can’t wait so we [Music] gas just farted on the Tokyo Metro it was actually my shoe swa we’ve seen quite a few 3D billboards this is not the most impressive but it’s definitely the most interactive and and the cutest actually this is my favorite because you can hear the audio and it’s so realistic it actually almost looks like a real cat up there so we are in Shinjuku and this place is a lot more how we both imagined Tokyo to be there are so many people and I know that this is not the busiest part of Tokyo there’s so many LED shop fronts and crossings there’s a lot going on but this place is so buzzy okay we’ve got to try one of these vending machines they’re definitely not hard to come by in Japan well it’s only the 500th one we’ve seen in about 2 hours yeah 5,000th probably what is that i’ve just seen that in my purse it’s my hole in it that is so Oh that is so unique okay 170 oh that was quick oh it’s cold a How cute is that it’s so cold feel that it’s freezing oh it’s the best sound ever it’s not fizzy i think it’s like a mix of a squash and a concentrate orange juice really really nice so refreshing i’m going to try this one it looks like it might be a cherry something let’s see if it’ll take my 1,000 yen go and click easy but do I get any change from that it’s coming i was thinking for a second i just paid 1,000 yen for this tiny bottle shake it shake it shake it shake shake i hope that’s not fizzy we’ll find out okay we’re good we’re good mhm mhm is it damn good oh my what why all right refresh [Music] i knew Tokyo was one of if not the most populated city on the planet but there is a sea of people here wherever you turn except for where our hotel is funny enough so we actually accidentally booked a place that was a bit quieter natural Lawson triangle onis yes this is what I’ve been looking forward to is it yes tofu pouch sushi let’s go and I’ve just found something that we’re both going to try but not right now natto oh no we’re trying that right now really we’re trying that right now you weren’t mentally prepared for that no looks like we’re trying Natto then so in Japan there’s three major convenience stores you’ve got Lorson 7-Eleven and Family Mart the one that we just went into is called Natural Lawson which supposedly focuses on healthier options to be honest it didn’t look that dissimilar to a regular Lawson and they didn’t have anywhere to sit in there and eat which is kind of what we were counting on but we’re going to go to a park nearby because apparently that’s one of the permitted spots that you can eat in the city of Tokyo outside of your hotel room you know what though that no eating on the street rule or custom or whatever it is it’s really really working because ironically you could literally eat your dinner off the street floor it’s that clean [Music] all right your Yogi Park easily the best name for a park ever i think this Yeah it’s a really It reminds me of Yoshi from Mario Kart it’s a really cute name everything is just cute this place we’ve just literally walked in the door and it’s instant like zen it’s instant zen oh my gosh this place is so beautiful it’s landscaped to perfection and we just walked in yeah I think this is a safe spot for us to eat i’m seeing other people having picnics and stuff so Oh this is so cute we just grab a nice spot and try out this food we found a bench on a Sunday in a public park how lucky are we i’m surprised because all of the ones up there were so packed out and these snacks look interesting to say the least especially the natto okay I’m going to go straight in with my rice triangle there’s some barley in there too as well I think so it’s not just rice looks like it this is what it’s looking like it’s very basic but it tastes exactly what it is it’s really nice it’s quite juicy actually juicy yeah it’s like got a good mouth feel to it i love the edomami in there as well it’s actually so good it needs some wasabi or soy sauce that will really elevate it and then we got my favorite tofu pouch chopsticks so we got a tofu skin pouch wrapped around a bed of sticky rice oh so good it’s so sweet it’s not bad it’s just kind of sweet and when it comes to rice I prefer more of a savory flavor than a sweet so I’m not a big fan of that but I think I’ve tried that before i’ll stick to my edamami bean rice all right enough of that it’s time to finally try natto in Japan i don’t know what it is but for whatever reason I’ve been obsessed with this stuff and wanting to try it for the longest time and I was refusing to try it outside of Japan so now that we’re here I’m finally going to do it it’s basically just fermented soybeans so I don’t see how bad it could possibly be but even in Japan it’s like a Marmite food 50% of people love it 50% of people hate it i like Marmite so that’s a good sign so do I this feels like a full circle moment because when we had our jobs back in the UK there was a Japanese girl every so often she’d bring the natto beans and I would look at them and just be like “What is that it does not look nice.” And she loved them and I can’t believe we’re actually going to try them for the first time so it looks like this when you open the lid and then you take off this cover and it’s really kind of I’m going to say gooey or stringy the smell is nothing like I expected it to be oh no i can smell it that smell is so bizarre i know i don’t know if I’m going to like this it actually smells fermented cuz it is fermented i know but it really smells fermented we’ve also got these two pouches that we’re going to mix into it i have no idea what either of them are but it’s probably going to improve the taste somewhat i think I’ve lost all hope i’ve got to say I’m a little bit more tentative about this now I would say because that smells really quite something so I put in the two liquids that came in the sachets and we’re going to give it a good mix around like that oh yeah that’s how that’s how I remember it looking oh it’s so webbby and slimy looking this is so bizarre it looks like mucus oh oh are you going to be sick i don’t know before you’ve even eaten it i’m actually expecting these beans to be super soft almost like baked beans in the UK look at this oh 3 2 1 they’re soft i was right they are very soft no sorry i really thought I was going to love that that’s not a bit of me let me try it again no heave i have the perfect description for it but I’m not going to say it the texture of the beans is actually really pleasant they’re really soft and I don’t even mind the sliminess or the You don’t mind it not really but the flavor is just beyond bizarre it tastes stuck on your fingers if you leave a dairy yogurt or cow’s milk in the fridge for way too long and it goes really out of date and then you give it a good sniff that’s what it tastes like i don’t like it well I’m glad I tried it we didn’t get a drink to wash it down no we got a bit of this at least oh you like that now suddenly well that was an experience and a flavor that will stay with me for a very very long time and not in a good way and that will never be experiencing ever again this is actually a great spot for a geeks like us as you can probably hear in the background we’re right underneath the flight path to Haneda airport so the planes are coming in pretty low pretty cool place to check them out see the landing gears there’s some really big planes coming to land as well which is epic [Music] that was epic i did not have Japanese Elvis rocking out in a park on my bingo list here in Japan [Music] i swear I’ve never seen a place this crowded in my whole entire life and that includes Foo Fighters concerts includes most cities in China there are so many people it actually looks so crazy when you’re standing up that hill and then you can just look down at the sea of ants it actually says when there’s crowds keep to the left it helps you walk through the street easier by when there’s crowds do they mean all the time just keep to the left surely probably cuz I can’t imagine this place ever being quiet even in the middle of the night maybe no way this is chaos but it’s actually pretty manageable organized chaos i would say to some degree so much to look at there’s shops everywhere it really feels like we’re in Tokyo now on a giri t-shirts an entire shop dedicated to socks there’s a Hello Kitty pop-up store right here and I thought the street came to an end at this construction but it keeps on going micro pig house a cafe with little tiny pigs in there you’re all just sat around like you’re in a classroom on your bottom and nature passing around a little micro pig that’s not something you see in the UK no this city is so weird so bizarre but so kind of wonderful at the same time it’s everything I imagined from Tokyo i love it there’s so many bright lights there’s so many cool cars and sounds one of my favorite cities on Earth already I think I have to say and we’ve not even been here for 24 hours yaz is on a mission look at her weaving between people food it’s time for some ramen we have just waited 45 minutes for a table in this restaurant we’ve waited so long it’s almost completely dark outside this ramen better be the best ramen ever okay so it’s gone 5:00 so it’s socially acceptable to have a beer cheers what do we even have i actually don’t know i think it’s some kind of Japanese draft beer premium malts to Oh that’s a good beer that’s got a nice hop to it m the head on that is so nice and creamy as well as long as the weight was they do actually have a really good system here and all the servers are really efficient so they actually come and take your order before you even sit at your table cuz they’ve got a QR code where you scan it and then you get the menu so we should be getting our ramen any minute now wow that is what I’m talking about so I’ve gone for the caravon this is the spiciest one that they do so much so that when I ordered it the server was like “You sure you want to do that?” I was like “Yeah why not?” I like feeling uncomfortable i’m going to go straight in for the broth wish me luck yeah spicy it’s definitely manageable for me though if you’re not a fan of spice don’t order this one that’s my advice wow b this looks phenomenal i believe there’s more of a garlic enhancement to this one just trying the broth first wow that broth is absolutely perfect it’s so garlicky oily i know some people might not like that but it’s so delicious wow savory umami the perfect amount of salt i can’t get over that that’s like the best broth I’ve ever had seriously so we’ve got the amazing garlic broth in here there’s also some vegan meat i’ve already had a few pieces i can’t lie it’s absolutely delicious there’s some purple cabbage noodles we’ve got some seaweed in here as well and some spring onions or if you’re American green onions all right Yas is going to try the super duper spicy one i can’t wait to see this she’s got a really good spice tolerance in fairness to her and that’s because of you cuz you trained me well here goes i thought it was meant to be spicy that is way more mild than I thought it was going to be i actually prefer my flavor but I wish that spice was in this that would have been absolutely perfect but I am so pleased that we waited 45 minutes for this we have literally been so excited about this broth that we haven’t even touched the noodles yet so let’s give these a try i’m going to say something shocking i think this is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten so good guys we did it we finally found something that Yas actually love i think I got tears in my eyes is that from the spice or from from the happiness how was that hated it can you tell it’s awful worst thing I’ve ever eaten big shout out to my sister Karen if you’re watching epic food recommendation have you ever had a dish that’s so good it almost reduces you to tears not just cuz of how spicy it is but because it’s just that good that was actually memorable like I said before one of my favorite things I think I’ve ever eaten and that’s saying a lot we will never forget that and I know that sounds dramatic but if we find a dish that we absolutely love it could be anywhere the most dingiest restaurant in a street corner or a fancy restaurant doesn’t matter that was epic all right we have made it to Shabuya we’re going to round off our first day in Tokyo the best way to round off a first day in Tokyo it’s scramble time i have built this up so much in my head over the last few years i really hope it’s not a big letdown all right here we are i’m not going to lie it looks a little bit smaller in real life than it does in all the photos these guys next to Yas are actually formulating a plan as to what they’re going to do as soon as the light goes green strategy right we’re down to one bar on the red man i think it’s going to go green any second we’re going to see oh oh okay go so many people running my god it’s mayhem i feel like we’re going to war so many people just walking towards us right now this is crazy it’s literally like a wall of people coming at you oh my god it’s basically just a photo opportunity at this point not even a crossing honestly it’s nowhere near as intense or chaotic as I thought it was going to be and it’s actually quite mad to think that that’s happening hundreds of times a day every single day i thought it was actually going to be so overwhelming but I think because this is known for the photos and the videos and all the content it’s actually quite funny watching everyone take the photos and videos it’s great people watch our sport fantastic it’s just really fun if people watching was a sport Shabuya Crossing would get gold every time [Applause] i can feel the pain i really don’t think you’re strong enough [Music] konicha konichua from day two in Tokyo feeling a little bit rough today because as you probably just saw we had a private karaoke session last night and we went for the all you can drink package and it was so worth it we had the best night it was so much fun it was completely worth it but needless to say caffeine [Music] we’re about to have a robot make our coffee for us welcome to 2025 ladies and gentlemen from Hiroshima wow you’re all the way from Hiroshima yes I live in Hiroshima wow that’s amazing he’s actually grabbing the kettle right now wow so I know this seems like a little bit of a gimmick maybe even a tourist trap but as you probably gathered it’s not just robots serving you coffee these robots are actually being controlled remotely by people who can’t physically make it into work maybe they’re disabled or from their hospital bed well as you can see someone in Hiroshima which is hundreds of kilometers away from here actually operating this robot that otherwise may not be able to work someone in Hiroshima is making our morning coffee that is the most amazing thing it’s incredible and the way he’s operating that robot is impressive hello hello thank you you came out of nowhere oh thank you so much okay thank you thank you Nema never have I ever been served a coffee by a robot that was pretty epic does it taste any good though it’s very nice it’s going to be the most expensive coffee we probably ever buy in our lives so this actually cost about £4,500 Japanese yen which comes to around £23 you’re not paying for the coffee though obviously you’re paying for the experience once in a lifetime experience as well it’s not even just for the experience it’s actually going towards people that need it so supporting people exactly so on arrival you actually get greeted by the reception robot who is an actual person operating it it’s the most surreal and incredible thing and she’s so responsive and so on it really quickly as soon as you walk in it’s hello very friendly friendliest robot I’ve ever met so part of the robot service is that you can actually get one of the workers to come and sit at your table and talk to you it doesn’t look like she’s actually there at the moment so we’re just going to wait here patiently for her to arrive and then we can have a conversation she’s here vlogging on hello nice to meet you hi guys how are you thank you england oh England thank you i live with a rare progressive disease that affects one in two million people wow i love gadgets hospitality Disney music and makeup oh you play the saxophone yes [Music] can you tell us a joke in Japanese [Music] bye-bye oh that was the most bizarre coffee of my entire life but the most memorable one at that as well and we’re about to go somewhere else bizarre right now the bizarre theme continues in Tokyo wea It’s a poo museum okay you’re 31 years old be mature be mature [Applause] so I think we’ve gathered the Japanese music okay so we’ve gone straight into a demonstration on how to do a poop hey congratulations it’s a boy guys guys cheers that’s the first time we’ve ever cheers the poop and hopefully the last oh my god why do we have chopsticks [Music] oh we’ve got a poop race on our hands this is mine and yours has won the orange his name is Kamug we have to jump at it as much as we can for it to go faster and win the race yeah [Applause] kamugi come on come on you stupid little Noi yes yes come on no way we actually came second i’ll take that [Music] so this next game you have to keep both hands on the table and then try and catch the poop before it hits the floor before it hits the water i know oh my god that was epic wow that was impressive yas have you ever experienced the pure exhilaration of throwing poop these foam poops they’re actually scented they smell like freshly baked cookies i’m not even joking oh that was chaos absolute chaos and now time for something completely different unfortunately our run of luck with the weather in Asia the last few weeks has come to an abrupt end it’s raining a little bit it’s not too bad it’s just kind of spitting check it out though we’re on this tiny little island in the middle of Tokyo there’s a light railway system fake bird noises being pumped in and it’s the quietest part of Tokyo yet I think so quiet we’re almost the only ones here actually and we got the best seat in the house on the train happy days front seats wow i cannot put into words what this feels like right now it’s like being inside of a crystal ball it’s like being inside of a kaleidoscope yeah that’s what it’s like i’m lit I’m so scared I’m going to smash my face into a mirror we literally have to walk like this this room is adorable you can actually draw something on a piece of paper and they will actually animate it and it will go on these walls how cool check it out if I touch them moves faster here we go i’m the one responsible for this monstrosity but there’s no rules in art and Yas doesn’t even know her own country’s flag i feel so stupid i did the drawing like I’m going to do the Union Jack flag i did the white and the red the complete wrong way round at least you tried this is genuinely one of the trippiest places I’ve been in my whole entire life this is not one for people with motion sickness this is so magical this feels so strange complete 360 from Pooh Museum zen two and a half hours in that place what time just flies so quickly when you’re in there and there’s so much to see yeah talk about being immersive i was completely immersed into a different world so I completely forgot that we were in Tokyo for a minute our plan was to go up to the very top of Shabuya Scramble Plaza but they’ve closed the rooftop because of the rain which isn’t even falling anymore sadly so we’ve got a refund for our tickets which means we can go for a donut i’m kind of upset about that because it’s such an iconic thing to do in Tokyo but at the same time although we could have gone to the level below which is indoor the weather is not the best and we wanted to experience it in the best light possible literally so yeah that’s going to have to wait for another time so for dinner we are trying our very first Japanese isizakaya restaurant and we’re trying sake for the first time i honestly don’t really know what it is rice wine japanese rice wine so that means it’s going to be quite strong oh it’s not that strong i like it it’s got nice flavor i’m going to take the I always know when a drink is strong so I get goosebumps i’ve got chicken skin right now we are so ready for this food we’re absolutely starving and this is going to be the first time trying a style like this so so looking forward to this if I’ve got this right then isaya it’s basically a concept where you go for a drink and you have a few small dishes almost tap style to go with the alcohol i love having the small dishes you can choose from rather than having a big meal in front of me i don’t know why sometimes I get overwhelmed when that happens cuz I don’t like to eat too much in one go i’m a snacky eater i like to eat little and often so this is my perfect way of eating dinner we have an absolute feast here we’ve got two different types of chicken kiyagi except here it’s chicken kiagi deep fried chicken balls bean sprouts with mock meat on top and kiakim oh m I see why they call this drinking food now oh my god that’s delicious that’s unbelievably good it was so crispy on the outside and sweet and salty and savory and everything i honestly wasn’t sure what was going to be inside these but it looks like a mock meat and so delicious asmr oh my god that is to die for like they’re really generous sizes they’re so big you need a good few bites oh that teriyaki is so saucy and umami and salty and delicious and crunchy and also soft pyoza have no idea what’s inside it i think it’s like a pork mint okay I need to try one of those i love that there’s a crispy edge and then a softer edge on the other side good texture oh soy sauce you can’t forget the soy sauce that’s the best go I’ve ever had oh no don’t say that i completely forgot about my sake the food is so good that sake suddenly tastes a lot like licorice now after that food matcha ice cream oh sorry i’m done i’m done oi oi that was legit i’m not even exaggerating some of the best food we’ve had in Asia again again that’s another memorable meal in Japan i was just saying whilst we’re eating Japan have delivered so damn hard with the food i’m so I don’t know impressed with the food options for us i’m overwhelmed with happiness food happiness so good yas is taking me somewhere and not telling me where this can only end well it’s somewhere that serves alcohol and it’s an activity that’s fun so how does that not sound good we’re going to go and check it out it’s a dart spar sharp projectiles and alcohol the perfect mix such a good mix there’s actually no one here right now but I think it’s because it’s a bit early still in the night but this place looks amazing electronic dart boards japan is living in 2050 i’ve never seen darts with bendy tips on them [Music] all right easy easy he’s panicking now because I got a really good one on that last round so now we’re drawing 20 minutes later i am victorious just as I predicted thank you so much Yas that was amazing we need a rematch i was warming up no yeah yeah i’m good this is really and truly bonkers you haven’t seen machines like this until you’ve been to Tokyo look at this they got an automatic currency exchange machine don’t exchange job related money we refuse your job related exchange they don’t want people using their salary money here and gambling it you can win food items in the vending machines crazy you can win a bento box or noodles or Hari bows or Pringles look they got chocolate over there and even these I’m assuming they’re bento boxes 400 No 4,184 calories so you pay for it with your money and with your waistline ah but then we have calorie mates here so it all evens out of course there’s another floor how did we miss that all right this is where the real prizes are at not just the food and the little teddy bears you’ve got dart boards mini basketball hoops toaster oven oh no y’s favorite car that is it for Tokyo folks this city has absolutely wiped us out it’s been chaotic loud very weird but it’s also been the best city of all time for us this has got to be one of our favorite cities it’s been absolutely fantastic if you enjoyed the video give it a like and subscribe to the channel we will see you in the next one okay bye guys [Music]

  2. For the commute from Narita to Tokyo, time is always brutal but I would have taken that same journey nonetheless if I was in your shoes.

Based on the 1300 yen you mentioned, you likely took the Keisei Line train(s) which is meant to be economical, not fast. Since you were looking up routes after 6:30pm (don't know if this was weekday, weekend, or holiday when you arrived), the Keisei Narita Skyaccess (via Asakusa Line) may or may not have been available to you, but if it did, the trip would have just costed you 200-500 yen more expensive per person but save 5-15 minutes of the trip from the airport.

There's also the TYO-NRT airport bus that can take you and your luggage from Narita to Tokyo Station with a minimum time of 1hr for 1500 yen (again this is a BUS, subject to local traffic conditions such as commuting rush hours and can be as long as 1.5 hours) + additional time and fares to use the local metro from Tokyo station to your hotel.

Another option would have been the Keisei Skyliner train which terminates at Keisei Ueno station in Tokyo, so you would have been looking at 2580 yen (more than 2.1x the price of the Keisei Line you took) + additional fare of 200-300 yen on the local metro to your hotel. Despite being 2x the price, you would have only shaved 20-30 minutes.

  5. You lucked out with your very first ATM selection. 7-11 (7Bank) is the only one that is fee-free, to my knowledge. Other ATMs generally charge a fee.

  6. Reckless adventures will definitely be punished, so you should check beforehand or ask a Japanese person.

  8. I’m Japanese and I’m glad my parents had me try natto from a young age or else I probably would have never tried it 😆

  9. Fascinating city! Spent almost three weeks there (Shinjuku) last September, and saw some musician friends from Tokyo at a couple of different clubs, even got invited to jam!; another friend from Japan surprised me one day and drove us as far up Mt. Fuji as vehicles will go! Re: beer (around 20:00), Asahi SuperDry is far superior in Japan to what it tastes like here in Canada! By the way, that ramen and beer you had looked so delicious! Not made the same! Going back in late September again, and staying for most of October.

  10. I have lived been in Japan for a year my best advice is to try smaller resturants, the chains are fine but the good mom and pop shops will absolutely melt your mind and hearts, go read reviews but also just go on random adventures of side alleys of side allyes this is how you find the absolute gems. Also go to some Meetups and meet and talk with some local Japanese and not run around and look at people like it is a exotic zoo 😂 then you can have some karokee mates for the next one?!😂🎉

  11. 納豆チャレンジしただけすごい!単体で食べるのは日本人でも少数派じゃない? 11:43 これ1つだけ試してみれば良かったね😂

  12. It is difficult to eat natto with only small dashi souce for me Japanese. With raw egg and green onion, it becomes easy to eat.
